Birmingham, Carson and Garfield hold strong in the top three, but Banning rises after a big win over Gardena

1. Birmingham (6-2)

The Patriots beat El Camino Real 49-0 and have only given up seven points in three West Valley League games. Birmingham is trending toward having a home playoff game in the City Open Division. 2. Carson (8-0)

The Colts are coming off a bye week ...; at Gardena; No. 2

3. Garfield (7-1)

Garfield thumped South Gate 69-0; vs. Legacy; No. 3

4. Banning (4-4)

The Pilots took down previously unbeaten Gardena, which moved them up in the rankings. Their last two games are very difficult and on the road; at San Pedro; No. 8

5. Granada Hills (5-2-1)

The Dolphins topped Westchester 37-6 to stay unbeaten in the Western League; at Venice; No. 6

7. Gardena (7-1)

Edged by Banning, 27-26, but will now take on one of the best teams in the City this week; vs. Carson; No. 4

8. Dymally (6-2)

The Challengers falter to the unlikeliest of Coliseum League opponent in King/Drew, losing 36-27, after beating Crenshaw the week prior; vs. Dorsey; No. 5

9. San Pedro (4-4)

The Pirates are unpredictable. They lost to Gardena and Carson, but then beat Narbonne 35-26; vs. Banning; Unranked

10. Franklin (5-2-1)

Panthers beat Woodrow Wilson 41-0 to clinch their third straight win; at Marshall; No. 9
