California high school football recruiting notebook: USC, Washington add commitments
Jackson Kollock picks Washington
A week after visting Washington to see the Huskies' big win over Oregon, Laguna Beach junior quarterback Jackson Kollock has committed to Washington.
The first commitment in Washington's 2025 class, Kollock chose the Huskies over offers from Cal, Colorado, Minnesota and several others. Through 18 career games as the starting quarterback for the Breakers, Kollock has thrown 70 touchdown passes to just six interceptions. He's also rushed for 11 touchdowns during that time.
Isaiah Rubin chooses USC
Los Alamitos senior defensive back Isaiah Rubin committed to USC last week, choosing the Trojans over Oregon, Colorado and Utah.
Rubin is back on the field as a senior after transferring in from Nevada as a junior and having to sit out. He's the 16th member of USC's 2024 recruiting class and the fifth who call the Southern Section home.
Naki Tuakoi opens up recruitment
Naki Tuakoi, the top rated recruit in CIF's Oakland Section, decommitted from Stanford on Monday night. Prior to choosing the Cardinal in June, the four-star edge rusher from Fremont had picked up nearly 20 scholarship offers from top schools across the country.
Oregon State recruiting in San Diego
Granite Hills hosted Helix last Friday in the regular season game of the year in the San Diego Section. The Eagles emerged with a 44-43 double overtime victory with many players on both sides turning in excellent performances.
Oregon State offensive coordinator Brian Lindgren was in attendance to get a close look at two top targets in the 2024 class.
Helix quarterback Ryland Jessee, a four-year starter for the Highlanders, committed to Utah State during the summer but continues to be recruited by Oregon State. He took an official visit to Corvallis two weekends ago and continues to weigh his options.
Granite Hills senior defensive lineman Damarrion White is one of California's top uncommitted players in the class of 2024. He had 18 tackles for loss and six sacks last season during the Eagles' state championship run. White took official visits to Oregon State and Arizona during the summer and has no timetable for announcing his decision.
