Look: San Marin stuns Marin Catholic to finish unbeaten, capture final MCAL title
The much-anticipated and attended showdown between 9-0 teams was a remarkable sight.
Photographer Greg Jungferman captured just about every angle. There were many.
It was not only a showdown between two of Northern California top teams who have shared three straight championships in the last two years.
This was history. This was the final football game of the historic Marin County Athletic League, which is splitting off into four leagues starting next season. San Marin finished the regular season 10-0 and 6-0. Marin Catholic is 9-1 and 4-1. Both teams will be high or top seeds in the North Coast Section playoffs which be announced Sunday.
The visitors from San Marin of Novato, scored a stunning 10-6 victory over a team that has dominated the league for roughly two decades. The defense kept the high powered Wildcats out of the end zone and got a 1-yard touchdown pass from Dom Ingrassia to Blake Hart midway through the first quarter for the game's only touchdown.
The Mustangs broke a 15-game losing streak to Marin Catholic setting off a wild victory celebration. Read the game story here but more so enjoy the photos below. We'll put together a slideshow soon.
