Look: Jaden Mangini, La Jolla Country Day senior, discusses San Diego Section championship victory over Grossmont

La Jolla Country scored 42 second half points, winning their first CIF championship since 2016.

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA— La Jolla Country Day senior quarterback Jaden Mangini carried the Torreys to the San Diego Section Division 3 championship on Saturday afternoon, totaling 10 touchdowns in a 73-34 victory over Grossmont.

The Torreys 31-22 at halftime before scoring three touchdowns in the opening five minutes of the second half to build a 30 point lead. The Torreys added on in the fourth quarter, achieving a San Diego Section championship record 73 points.

Mangini, a Navy-bound quarterback and linebacker, finished with 416 passing yards and 115 rushing yards. He tossed six touchdown passes and rushed for four touchdowns.
