Mater Dei Signing Day: Texas' Brandon Baker highlights 11 signees

Mater Dei had players sign to Alabama, Georgia and Texas

Fresh off being named SBLive's 2023 National Champions, Mater Dei had a Signing Day ceremony that featured two 5-star recruits in offensive lineman Brandon Baker and defensive lineman Aydin Breland.

Baker signed with Texas and Breland signed with Oregon.

The Monarchs had 11 players sign Wednesday, highlighted by marquee college programs like Texas, Alabama and Georgia.

Here is a full list of Mater Dei signees that participated in early Signing Day.

  • OL Brandon Baker, Texas
  • DL Aydin Breland, Oregon
  • QB Elijah Brown, Stanford
  • DB Zabien Brown, Alabama
  • OL DeAndre Carter, Auburn
  • DB Jeilani Davis, Utah
  • DE Kainoa Davis, North Carolina at Charlotte
  • RB Nathaniel Frazier, Georgia
  • WR Jack Ressler, Oregon
  • LS Rylan Vagana, Texas Tech
  • LB Tanner Williams, Utah State

Mater Dei's only loss came to St. John Bosco on October 14, but later avenged that loss in convincing fashion when it beat the Braves 35-7 at the LA Memorial Coliseum for the CIF Southern Section Division 1 title.

The Monarchs won the CIF State Open Division title with a 35-0 win over San Mateo Serra. Winning California helped Mater Dei be named the high school football national champions for many outlets, including SBLive/SI.com.
