Here's an updated look at the San Diego Section rankings with league play underway across the section.
SBLive’s San Diego Section high school boys basketball rankings are compiled by SBLive California reporter Bodie DeSilva and will be released each week throughout the 2023-24 season.
SBLive's San Diego Section Top 10 boys basketball rankings
1. Carlsbad (17-2)
Next game: 1/16 at San Dieguito
Last week: 1
Carlsbad held off Torrey Pines early in the week and flew past La Costa Canyon on Friday despite missing All-CIF guard Tony Duckett. San Dieguito and El Camino are up this week.
2. Montgomery (18-2)
Next game: 1/19 vs. Mater Dei Catholic
Last week: 2
Montgomery opened league play with dominant wins over Otay Ranch and Bonita Vista. Junior JJ Sanchez had 26 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals in Wednesday's victory.
3. St. Augustine (17-3)
Next game: 1/16 at Mission Bay
Last week: 3
The Saints got by Santa Fe Christian 56-46 on Tuesday and moved to 2-0 in the Western League with a 20-point win over rival Cathedral Catholic.
4. Torrey Pines (14-5)
Next game: 1/16 at Sage Creek
Last week: 4
Torrey Pines came up just short of taking down top-ranked Carlsbad on Tuesday and bounced back with a win over San Dieguito on Friday. They'll head to Sage Creek on Tuesday before beginning a run of five straight home league games.
5. Santa Fe Christian (15-6)
Next game: 1/24 at Escondido Charter
Last week: 5
The Eagles played four games in six days, most recently beating Bishop's on Monday night. They'll be off for the remainder of the week before playing two road games in league play next week.
6. La Jolla Country Day (14-5)
Next game: 1/17 vs. Francis Parker
Last week: 6
The Torreys bounced back from their loss at Santa Fe Christian with a win over Escondido Charter. They'll play three games this week before hosting the Eagles in a rematch next Friday.
7. La Costa Canyon (12-4)
Next game: 1/16 at El Camino
Last week: 7
La Costa Canyon struggled to shoot last Friday, losing to Carlsbad 67-45, to end their 11-game winning streak. They'll hit the road twice this week including a showdown at rival Torrey Pines on Friday.
8. Mission Hills (14-6)
Next game: 1/17 at Poway
Last week: 8
Mission Hills continues to play their best ball of the season, winning twice last week to extend their winning streak to 10. A matchup against rival San Marcos awaits on Friday.
9. San Marcos (15-4)
Next game: 1/17 at Ramona
Last week: 9
San Marcos opened up the Palomar League last week with dominant road wins over Del Norte and Rancho Bernardo. They'll travel up to Ramona on Wednesday before hosting rival Mission Hills in their first home league game of the year.
10. Cathedral Catholic (14-6)
Next game: 1/19 vs. Madison
Last week: 10
The Dons started their week with a road win in the Western League at San Diego. They fell at rival St. Augustine on Friday and will be off until hosting Madison this coming Friday.
