CIF Sac-Joaquin Section 2024 girls basketball playoff: Updated scores, matchups, brackets, game times (2-19-2024)
There were no real surprises in the semifinals of to the top three 2023 CIF Sac-Joaquin Section girls basketball playoff divisions on Monday.
Folsom and St. Mary's, two teams that have been ranked among the state's best all year, will meet for the Division 1 title as the top seeded Bulldogs breezed to a 66-38 home win over McClatchy, and the second-seeded Rams (24-5) took care of Oak Ridge, 63-49.
Junior guard Sophia Mindermann had 19 points, Cal-bound post Kamryn Mafua added 15 points and Ella Uriarte contributed 12 as Folsom improved to 25-4. A 22-8 run in the second quarter did in McClatchy (24-6), which got 13 points by Nina Cain and 12 by Daisy Throckmorton.
Both teams came in red hot as Folsom's 12th straight win snapped a 17-game win streak for McClatchy.
The top two seeds in Divisions 2 and 3 also advanced to Wednesday's championship at Golden 1 Center as No. 1 Whitney (21-9) will face No. 2 Vanden (24-7) in D2 (2 p.m.) and top-seed Vista del Lago (22-8) will play No. 2 Manteca (25-6) in D3 (10 a.m.).
Folsom and St. Mary's will face in the D1 finals for a second straight season at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs won last year's SJS final, 58-53.
Semifinals in Division 4, 5 and 6 of SJS continue on Tuesday.
Top seeds in each divisions are: Folsom (Division 1), Whitney (D2), Vista del Lago (D3), Colfax (D4), Bear River (D5) and Faith Christian (D6).
Defending champions are: Folsom (D1), Whitney (D2), Vanden (D3), Colfax (D4), Valley Christian (D5) and Faith Christian (D6).
