Maddie Farnsworth drops 35 points as Palos Verdes holds off Eastside in CIF-SS 4A Championship

Farnsworth delivered a heroic performance on the big stage as just a sophomore

ONTARIO, Calif. - Palos Verdes is your CIF-Southern Section 4A girls basketball champion.

And Maddie Farnsworth, just a sophomore, is already a Palos Verdes legend.

Farnsworth dominated with 35 points, six steals, and three assists on 14-26 shooting (3-9 from three, 4-4 free throws) as the Sea Kings (or Sea Queens) defeated Eastside  57-46 on Saturday at Toyota Center.

Palos Verdes led by as much as 17 points in the second quarter, but never let Eastside get all the way back in the game until it was too late.

The game was cemented by back-to-back transition layups by Farnsworth, which put Palos Verdes up 55-46 with 55.5 seconds left.

Freshman Quinn Tamashiro added 14 points and three steals for Palos Verdes, which were game-high marks besides Farnsworth. Katie Golden totaled six points, seven rebounds, and a game-high five assists for Palos Verdes, and Maddie Gregory had a game-high 11 rebounds.

Neila Marshall and Aprill Medrano led Eastside with 11 points apiece.
