Alemany boys wins second CIF state title, takes down Santa Cruz: Live update recap

Michael Lindsay leads Warriors with 25 points and Jared Mims adds 14 as Southern California wins its first title of the day in the 2024 California Division 3 boys basketball state championship game

SACRAMENTO — Michael Lindsay had 25 points and five rebounds and Jared Mims added 14 points as Alemany won its second state title with a 63-53 Division 3 title win over Santa Cruz. on Friday at Golden 1 Center, home of the Sacramento Kings.  

The Warriors (25-15) also used a stifling defense, giving up just six points in the first quarter while recording its first state crown since 2012. Lindsay is going to Idaho State to play football, but he's very good at basketball.

Demarco Hunter had 22 points and 12 rebounds and Ben Dotten added 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists, three steals and four blocks for Santa Cruz (27-7), after its second state crown and first since 2015.  

Alemany never trailed and led by as much as much of 16 in the third quater. The Warriors forced 21 turnovers and Santa Cruz into just 17 of 45 shooting (37.8 percent).

The 2024 California (CIF) boys and girls high school basketball state championships have arrived. All 12 state championship games will be played at Golden 1 Center, the home of the Sacramento Kings.

The CIF State championship games continue Friday at 4 p.m. with the Division III boys basketball matchup between Alemany and Santa Cruz
