Highlights: St. Bernard's girls basketball tops Grossmont to win first CIF State title

Eureka St. Bernard's won the program's first CIF State title at Golden 1 Center Saturday

SACRAMENTO - Eureka St. Bernard's girls basketball captured its first CIF State championship in program history with a 47-29 wire-to-wire victory in the Division IV final over San Diego Grossmont at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento Saturday.

St. Bernard's Madelyn Shanahan tallied a monster double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds. Laila Florvilus had 18 points and 14 rebounds in the historic victory. Freshman Samantha Sundberg added 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Keilan Hayden led Grossmont with 10 points.

St. Bernard's enrollment is roughly 300 to Grossmont's 2,200.
