SACRAMENTO — Laila Florvilus, Madelyn Shanahan and Samantha Sundberg combined for 45 points to lead St. Bernard's over Grossmont 47-29 on Saturday morning in the California (CIF) Division 4 state girls basketball championship at the Golden 1 Center.
It was the first appearance in a state finals for the Foothillers (30-5).
Florvilus scored a game-high 18 points and had 14 rebounds, Shanahan added 15 points and grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds while Sundberg finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
St. Bernard's, which held a comfortable 23-12 lead at the half, outrebounded Grossmont 58-30 in the game.
Aliyah Vigil scored the only other points for the Foothillers with a basket in the first half.
Kellan Hayden led the Crusaders (27-9) with 10 points while Amethyst Price finished with nine. Aakash Price had eight points and a team-high eight rebounds.
