Watch: Bishop Montgomery coach, players offers emotional response following seventh CIF State title

Jordin Blackmon and Cyriah Coleman combine for 29 points, giving the Knights their first CIF State title since 2003

SACRAMENTO - Bishop Montgomery jumped out to a 24-10 lead over Bishop O'Dowd after one quarter on Friday night and led by 21 points at halftime.

The Knights were able to cruise to a 52-40 victory against the Dragons in the CIF State Division 1 championship game.

For Bishop Montgomery, it marked the seventh CIF State title in girls basketball but their first since 2003. Playing at home throughout the state playoffs, the Knights took down Corona-Santiago, La Jolla Country Day and Brentwood School on their way to Sacramento after receiving a first-round bye as the top-seeded team in the bracket.

After the game, head coach Rheina Ale and several players discussed the championship victory and the journey along the way.
