Top 10 San Diego Section high school baseball rankings (3/18/2024)

Granite Hills rose up the rankings last week after taking down three top 10 teams

Carlsbad kept their top spot in the San Diego Section baseball rankings last week and will return to the field against district-foe Sage Creek this week. With the San Diego Lions Tournament and Boras Classic scheduled over the next two weeks, expect lots of shakeup in the coming days.

SBLive’s San Diego Section high school baseball rankings are compiled by SBLive California reporter Bodie DeSilva and are released every Monday throughout the season.

SBLive's San Diego Section Top 10 baseball rankings

1. Carlsbad (4-0)

Last week: 1

Carlsbad was off last week. The Lancers will make the short trip to Sage Creek on Wednesday before beginning the San Diego Lions Tournament next week.

2. La Costa Canyon (3-1)

Last week: 3

The Mavericks are off for the second straight week before they play in the San Diego Lions Tournament and the Boras Classic in consecutive weeks.

3. Granite Hills (6-1)

Last week: 6

The Eagles had a huge week, taking down three top 10 teams in Patrick Henry, Cathedral Catholic and Eastlake. Wednesday's 2-0 victory over Cathedral Catholic was career win No. 500 for head coach James Davis.

4. Cathedral Catholic (6-2)

Last week: 2

The Dons sandwiched wins over Santana and Grossmont around a loss to Granite Hills. They'll continue the GMC Tournament with games against Helix and Steele Canyon this week.

5. St. Augustine (6-1)

Last week: 8

St. Augustine moved up the rankings with wins over Grossmont, Helix and Steele Canyon last week. They'll have a big opportunity at Granite Hills on Wednesday.

6. Rancho Bernardo (2-1)

Last week: 7

Rancho Bernardo got their first two wins of the season, beating Poway and Westview last week. They'll host Mission Hills on Monday.

7. Torrey Pines (6-1)

Last week: 4

The Falcons dropped their first game of the season on Thursday to Sage Creek, 1-0. They'll take on Poway and Santa Fe Christian this week before next week's Lions Tournament.

8. Patrick Henry (6-2)

Last week: 5

The Patriots bounced back from a loss to Granite Hills on Monday by outscoring Grossmont and Helix by a combined score of 23-3. Steele Canyon and Santana await this week.

9. Eastlake (5-3)

Last week: 9

Eastlake erased a 5-0 deficit against Granite Hills on Friday before falling, 8-7. They'll take on Grossmont and Helix this week.

10. San Marcos (5-1)

Last week: NR

The Knights have scored 31 runs over their past three games, beating Mission Hills and Rancho Buena Vista last week.
