California Top 25 high school baseball rankings (3/18/2024)

Valley Christian moves into the top five for the first time this season after their dominant start in Northern California

Orange Lutheran took two of three games from JSerra in last week's Trinity League series to remain atop the California high school baseball rankings. The Lancers are joined by Corona, who swept Norco in their first league series of the 2024 season.

March 18, 2024

1. Orange Lutheran (10-1)

Last week: 2

Orange Lutheran took two of three games from JSerra in their Trinity League series and have a head-to-head win against Corona.

2. Corona (7-1)

Last week: 1

Corona swept three games from Norco last week, needing extra innings in each of the final two games.

3. Harvard-Westlake (10-1-1)

Last week: 3

Harvard-Westlake took both games from Sherman Oaks Notre Dame and will play three against Crespi this week.

4. Valley Christian (San Jose) (9-0)

Last week: 6

The Warriors continued their undefeated run with two league wins over Archbishop Riordan and a non-league win against Leigh on Saturday.

5. Westlake (9-0)

Last week: 7

Westlake had last week off, leading into their Marmonte League series against Calabasas this week.

6. Carlsbad (4-0)

Last week: 11

Carlsbad was off last week and will only play once this week, preparing for tournaments over the next two weeks.

7. San Dimas (10-2)

Last week: NR

The Saints scored 23 runs over three games last week and are riding an eight-game winning streak into this week's series against Charter Oak.

8. La Costa Canyon (3-1)

Last week: 5

La Costa Canyon will be off for the second straight week. They'll play eight games in the Lions Tournament and Boras Classic over the next two weeks.

9. Granada (7-0)

Last week: NR

Granada soars into the top 10 this week after wins over San Ramon Valley and De La Salle last week. They'll play Cardinal Newman on Saturday.

10. Huntington Beach (7-4)

Last week: 4

The Oilers were shutout by Marina and Fountain Valley to close out last week. They'll head to Corona del Mar on Wednesday before getting a rematch against Fountain Valley on Friday.

11. Maranatha (7-1)

Last week: 12

The Minutemen scored 35 runs over their two games last week and have won six straight since losing to top-ranked Orange Lutheran.

12. Granite Hills (6-1)

Last week: 25

Granite Hills took down three top 10 teams in the San Diego Section last week to rise in the updated rankings. Montgomery and St. Augustine are up this week.

13. St. Mary’s (Stockton) (4-1)

Last week: 24

The Rams will play three games over four days this week following last week's break.

14. Cathedral Catholic (6-2)

Last week: 22

Cathedral Catholic's two losses have come against two of the San Diego Section's top three teams.

15. Santa Margarita (8-3-1)

Last week: 13

The Eagles opened the Trinity League by taking two of three games from St. John Bosco. They'll play three against top-ranked Orange Lutheran beginning Tuesday.

16. Corona Centennial (9-1)

Last week: 14

The Huskies swept three games from Santiago last week. They'll play three with Norco beginning Monday.

17. JSerra (5-5-1)

Last week: 9

JSerra shutout Orange Lutheran 3-0 in the final game of their Trinity League series to stop their losing streak at three games.

18. St. Augustine (6-1)

Last week: NR

St. Augustine won both games last week in the GMC Tournament. St. Mary's-signee Justin Heffler is hitting .455 with two home runs and three doubles to start the year.

19. Mater Dei (7-2)

Last week: NR

Mater Dei shutout Servite 8-0 on Friday, taking two of three games in their first Trinity League series of the season.

20. Elk Grove (5-3)

Last week: 23

Elk Grove scored 22 runs in the first two games of their series against Jesuit before dropping the finale, 8-3.

21. Chaminade (9-3)

Last week: NR

Chaminade has won five straight games, including four in the Mission League. The Eagles sit in second place behind Harvard-Westlake.

22. De La Salle (4-2)

Last week: 8

De La Salle's two losses have come against St. Mary's and Granada. The Spartans busy week will begin with a game against Dublin on Wednesday.

23. Bishop Amat (10-1)

Last week: NR

The Lancers have been dominant over the past month and wrapped up a three-game sweep of Bishop Montgomery last week.

24. St. John Bosco (7-2)

Last week: NR

The Braves took the middle game from Santa Margarita in last week's Trinity League series. They'll play three games against Servite this week.

25. Rancho Bernardo (2-1)

Last week: 19

The Broncos took both games in the North County Tournament last week. They'll be playing in the San Diego Lions Tournament and the Boras Classic over the next two weeks.
