DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

ISSAC WILLIAMSON, ROOSEVELT, JR.

Roosevelt coach Stephen Singleton described Issac Williamson with a word not commonly uttered when speaking about defenders at the prep level.

"He's a disruptor," Singleton said.

Williamson's best defensive performance came in the Classic at Damien Platinum Division final when he held St. John Bosco's Brandon McCoy to just 13 points in a 68-65 victory.

"He's our best defender," said senior teammate Darnez Slater that night in December.

Roosevelt had a stellar year, reaching the CIF Southern Section Open Division final and CIF State Open Division SoCal regional final thanks to the willing work of Williamson, who raised his hand for the toughest perimeter assignments night in and night out.

The standout junior averaged 12.2 points and 1.6 steals per game this season. He also earned All-Big XIII League first team honors.
