The 2024 high school baseball season has wrapped up across California. Torrey Pines, who began the season ranked No. 8 in SBLive's preseason San Diego Section rankings, ended the year on top. The Falcons, seeded second in the Open Division playoffs, defeated Rancho Bernardo in the championship game, capturing their first title since 2018. San Marcos, the Division 1 champion, put together a late season run to finish at No. 9 in the final rankings of the season.

1. Torrey Pines (23-11)

Torrey Pines worked through the Open Division playoffs as the two-seed, defeating Rancho Bernardo 7-1 in the championship game at USD’s Fowler Park. Senior Brendon Miller struck out nine batters over six innings while Peyton Rodgers came through with three hits and a stolen base.

2. Rancho Bernardo (24-9)

The Broncos reached their first Open Division title game since 2015 but were unable to take down league rival Torrey Pines.

3. Granite Hills (22-8)

Granite Hills fought back after a loss in round two, winning two elimination games but fell to Torrey Pines on the road in the semifinals.

4. Cathedral Catholic (23-10)

Back in the Open Division playoffs for the first time since 2019, the Dons won three straight elimination games before falling a game short of the title game with a loss at Rancho Bernardo in the semifinals.

5. St. Augustine (23-8)

The Saints opened the playoffs with a dramatic extra-innings win at Cathedral Catholic before dropping games against Rancho Bernardo and the Dons to end their playoff run.

6. Carlsbad (16-14)

Carlsbad had to play three road games in the playoffs, losing to Torrey Pines and Granite Hills, sandwiched around a win over Patrick Henry.

7. Eastlake (22-7)

Eastlake entered the playoffs on a 13-game winning streak but dropped back-to-back games against Rancho Bernardo and Cathedral Catholic to conclude their season.

8. Patrick Henry (21-8-1)

Patrick Henry’s offense couldn’t get in a rhythm, dropping their two playoff games against Granite Hills and Carlsbad.

9. San Marcos (19-15)

San Marcos put together a remarkable playoff run, taking home the Division 1 title with a win over Poway. The Knights won three straight elimination games including back-to-back days at La Costa Canyon before holding off the Titans for the championship.

10. Point Loma (19-9-4)

Point Loma put together a nearly perfect run in the Division 2 playoffs, beating Bonita Vista 2-0 in the title game behind a 13-strikeout, one-hit shutout from Matthew Garrison. The Pointers pitching stifled opponents in the playoffs, taking home their first CIF title since 1982.
