THIS WEEK’S FLORIDA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
Hannah Church, Catcher (Berkeley Prep)
The future Ohio State Buckeye had herself quite a week at the plate hitting .800 (8-of-10) and hit four home runs, across a three-game stretch. The Buccaneers went 3-0 last week.
Ailey Schyck, Infielder (West Orange)
Schyck hit for a .636 batting average (6-of-11) in three games last week for the Warriors. West Orange is sitting at 3-0 for the young season.
Emily Allen, Utility (Mount Dora Christian)
Allen hit a couple of home runs last week, and drove in six runs, leading the Bulldogs to a 3-0 week.
Katelynn Oxley, Pitcher (Bartow)
The sophomore pitcher was sensational in the circle on February 24, striking out all 21 batters faced, in a 1-0 win over McKeel Academy.
Gwendolyn McGinnis, Pitcher (Tallahassee Lincoln)
McGinnis has yet to give up a hit in two appearances this season for the Trojans. The senior pitcher/first baseman has also racked up 35 strikeouts in 14 innings pitched this season.
Nyla Harris, Forward (Lake Highland Prep)
Harris is coming off a 26 point, 21 rebound performance on February 26, leading the Highlanders to their third consecutive state championship.
Ta’Niya Latson, Forward (American Heritage Plantation)
The Florida State commit is coming off a 33-point performance on February 25 in their state semifinal win over Pine Forest.
Cade Kurland, Shortstop (Berkeley Prep)
The Florida Gator commit had himself quite a day at the plate on February 26, hitting two home runs and drove in five runs, in a 15-5 win over Lakeland.
Bradley Link, Infielder (Suncoast)
Link has hit three home runs in the team’s first three games of the season. The Chargers are also off to a 3-0 start on the young season.
Evan Griffis, Outfielder (Lake Brantley)
The senior outfielder went deep twice back on February 21, in an 11-0 win over Sanford Seminole.
Brody Donay, Catcher (Lakeland Christian)
The Virginia Tech signee had three hits, including two home runs on February 24, in a 4-2 win over Seffner Christian.
Brice Sensabaugh, Lake Highland Prep
Sensabaugh had 15 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists on February 22, in a 69-44 win over Pine Ridge.
Isabel Lewis, Infielder (Ocala Forest)
Lewis drove in seven runs back on February 25, in a 21-2 win over Dunnellon.
Sophia Loreto, Utility (John Carroll Catholic)
Loreto has driven in four runs in back-to-back games, leading the Lady Rams to a 2-0 start on the young season.
Kylie Bledsoe, Lely (Naples)
Bledsoe has recorded 10 or more strikeouts in three of her four appearances so far this season. Bledsoe is leading the state with 50 strikeouts this season.
Corban Little, George Jenkins
Little is coming off a 15-strikeout performance on February 25, in a 4-0 win over Ridge Community.
Camden Harnage, Pitcher (University Christian)
Harnage worked 5 innings and allowed 3 hits, 4 runs (2 earned) and struck out 14 batters on February 24, in a 10-4 win over Interlachen.
