MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA – There is somewhat of a no-fly zone at Miami Norland High School. That is because 2023 Jamari Holliman is usually in the vicinity. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound cornerback/safety is a play-maker in the defensive secondary.

Holliman has helped the Vikings to a 4-2 record this season. As a junior, he collected 21 tackles, including 18 pass break-ups and three interceptions. While becoming a dominant player at Miami Norland, Holliman has been developing his game around the area since he was little.

“I started playing football when I was six really,” said Holliman. I played for Ives Estate, then I went to Broward and played for Miramar and then kind of took over from there. I was a linebacker all the way until I want to say my last year at Optimist. Then they moved me to safety and that’s when I really started playing DB for real.

"Then when I got to high school, my ninth-grade year I was a safety. I moved up the end of my ninth-grade year. I didn’t really play, but coming into my tenth-grade year I got moved to corner because I was a little undersized and I took off from there. I grew a little bit; I grew to 6-foot-1. I gained a lot of weight; I’m about 180 right now.”

South Florida is known for having excellent skill position prospects. Holliman lines up against some of the best and welcomes the challenge. He brings an edge to the position with his physicality and toughness.

“They would see a high-energetic corner; physical corner,” said Holliman. "Someone who likes to talk trash, but also respectful. Don’t argue with the refs at all. My game is really I’m a press corner. I like to play press; play man. It’s easy and it’s fun, but I also could play zone. I could play off, man, catch. I could play 15 yards off, 12 yards, 10 yards, five yards. However you want me to play I can play it. I’m just a real versatile corner. I can also play safety as I mentioned before. I want to say I’m a real athletic; versatile DB.”

Holliman checks multiple boxes as a collegiate prospect. Any program should welcome his value since he can play multiple roles. A defensive coordinator can scheme and comfortably trust him in multiple packages. While confident in his ability, Holliman is still looking and finding ways to improve.

“As I said earlier I am tall, so I would like to get a lot faster for sure,” said Holliman. “Work on my transitions; coming out of my breaks. Other then that, not really. I’m just ready to go play at the next level.”

Before that step, Holliman has three regular season games remaining in his scholastic career. The Vikings look to end a two-game skid when they face nearby Miami Palmetto High School on Thursday. Holliman credits multiple coaches with helping him become the player he is today.

“I’ve had a couple coaches through high school,” said Holliman. “Coach Craig, Coach Jabo, Coach pat. They’ve all helped me, so I really got help from all-around. And I just took what they taught me and combined it all and turned it into my own game.”

Holliman is a 3-star prospect according to most recruiting services. He holds three official offers from Toledo, Vanderbilt and Colorado. He is currently committed to the Buffaloes.

“I am currently committed to Colorado, but my recruitment is still open,” said Holliman.
