Tampa Bay Tech forced to forfeit Sep. 23 game versus Gaither due to ineligible player

The Titans, SBLive Sports Florida’s No. 7 team, has to forfeit a game because of an ineligible player

TAMPA, FLORIDA- Tampa Bay Tech, one of the top teams in the state of Florida, has to forfeit a game. 

According to Titans head coach Jayson Roberts, Tampa Bay has been forced to forfeit Sep. 23rd’s 54-14 win against the Gaither Cowboys due to an ineligible player. Gaither head coach Kirk Karsen also confirmed they received the forfeit win over Tampa Bay Tech.

Roberts stated that there was an oversight of a player’s grades and that the fault ultimately falls on him. Tampa Bay Tech was heading into Week 9’s away game versus Jesuit with a 8-0 record, but now will head in at 7-1 due to the forfeit. 

Tampa Bay Tech (7-1) is coming off a dominating 28-0 victory over the Wharton Wildcats, who just came in No. 25 in the latest SBLive Sports Florida Power 25 rankings.

Despite the forfeit by the Titans, it will not have any impact on their status in Class 3A-Metro, District 4. Tampa Bay Tech already owns wins over district foes Wharton and Freedom, with one remaining against Armwood Oct. 28.
