Vote now: Who is the Florida spring football player of the week (May 15-19)?

Who had the best week on the gridiron on the Sunshine State?

Yes, high school spring football is back in the Sunshine State and so are the top performers of the week. Though it’s a small taste of what’s to come in the fall, there’s been plenty of standout performances.

At SBLive Sports Florida, we aim to include as many deserving players as possible. Coaches are encouraged to pass along candidates to my Twitter handle @Andy_Villamarzo.

THIS WEEK’S FLORIDA SPRING FOOTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES:

Editor’s Note: Our Florida Spring Football Player of the Week feature and corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. However, we do not allow votes that are generated by script, macro or other automated means. Athletes that receive votes generated by script, macro or other automated means will be disqualified.

Will Griffin, QB, Jesuit:  The rising sophomore quarterback had one of the best performances of the spring so far. Griffin threw for 355 yards and four touchdowns in a 42-30 win over Palmetto.

Noah Grubbs, QB, Lake Mary:  Another soon-to-be sophomore, Grubbs made it look easy at times in the jamboree against Forest and DeLand. Grubbs threw for five total touchdowns in the four quarters of play.

Sean Burke, TE/DE, South Broward: The 6-foot-6, 215-pound defensive end had himself a day for the Bulldogs. Burke had 72 receiving yards on offense and flipped to defense to notch 1.5 sacks, fumble force and two tackles.

Jamari Parker, RB, Palmetto: Palmetto head coach Rashad West wasn't quite sure about running backs heading into the game against Jesuit, but felt a lot better after Parker’s performance. Parker ended the contest with a game-high 137 yards rushing on 11 attempts.

Sincere Edwards, DT, Wekiva: Unnlockable. Edwards was just that in Wekiva’s 35-28 loss to Sanford Seminole as the UCF commit nabbed a sack, batted down a pass and multiple quarterback hurries.

Javian Mallory, RB, West Boca Raton: The freshman tailback wowed onlookers at the Bulls’ spring game against Doral Academy. Mallory scored two touchdowns in his dazzling performance.

Shawn Simeon, RB, Naples: Naples has some work to do this off-season, but Simeon is a great building block. The running back rushed for over 200 yards in a 49-28 loss to Venice.

Jadyn Glasser, QB, Venice: The Indians could be primed to make another run to the Class 4S state championship game and that’s behind the right arm of Glasser. Glasser threw two touchdowns in the win over Naples.

Luke Knight, QB, Wiregrass Ranch: New place, same results. Knight was back at it against Cypress Creek and looked spectacular. The quarterback threw for 338 yards and four touchdowns in a 56-31 rout of the Coyotes.

David Parks, QB, Sanford Seminole: Parks showed why he is Bokey’s guy under center as he completed 9-of-13 passes for 170 yards, two touchdowns and rushed for another 54.

Justin Rosado Jr., WR, Sanford Seminole: The go-to-receiver for Parks was Rosado Jr. and for good reason. The wideout caught four passes for 145 yards and two scores in the Seminoles win over Wekiva.

Jayce Nixon, QB, Gaither: The rising junior signal caller completed 12-of-15 passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns.

Zander Smith, QB, Lakeland: New kid on the block in the 863 looked good in his new Lakeland uniform. Smith threw four touchdowns in the Dreadnaughts’ 44-32 win over Lake Minneola.

Shaan Patel, WR, Wesley Chapel Cypress Creek: The Coyotes too wide receiver snatched nine catches for 153 yards and a touchdown in the loss to Wiregrass Ranch.

JT Tipton, QB, Lecanto: The rising sophomore was 23-of-34 passing for 234 yards along with the four passing touchdowns and one rushing in Lecanto’s 46-30 win over Nature Coast.

Kaleef ‘KJ’ Valentine, QB, Bartow: The Yellow Jackets’ quarterback made sure his team would come away with a win on Friday night. Valentine rushed 13 times for 185 yards, two touchdowns and added 30 through the air to beat Kathleen 21-20.

Charles Oldham, RB, Kathleen: Though in a loss, Oldham was stellar for the Red Devils. The running back scored three touchdowns in a 21-20 loss to Bartow.

Lucas Glassburn, K/P, Windermere: A kicker on this list? Why not! Glassburn was perfect on extra points (4-for-4), hit a 36-yard field goal and his one punt went 47 yards and downed at the 2-yard line in Windermere’s win over Astronaut.

Chris Noble, QB, Arnold: Noble had a nice game for the Marlins as he completed 11-of-13 passes for 112 yards, one touchdown and rushed for 94 and added three scores.

Riley Trujillo, QB, Bartram Trail: In game No. 1 for head coach Cory Johns, not too shabby. Trujillo threw two touchdowns and ran in another as the Bears rolled by Columbia 50-20.

Keil McGriff, QB, Newberry: The Panthers’ quarterback threw for just a shade under 200 yards in one half in Newberry’s 24-7 win over Gainesville.

Antonio Muniz, RB, Gulf: Workhorse over at the Buccaneers is Muniz and he displayed that in a 28-20 win over Land O’ Lakes. The running back churned out 197 yards and scored two touchdowns.

James Perrone, QB, Blanche Ely: Perrone didn’t need too many passes to show what he can do. The quarterback went 5-for-5, 170 yards and two touchdowns in the Tigers’ win over Flanagan.

Sean Silva, LB, Park Vista: The linebacker was disruptive all night in a 17-5 win against Melbourne. Silva totaled eight tackles, three for a loss and a quarterback hurry.

Tommy Offord, QB, Palatka: Offord, a freshman, was excellent for the Panthers in their jamboree against Interlachen and Crescant City. The quarterback threw for four touchdowns total in the jamboree.

Matthew Hart, WR, Forest: Hart caught four passes for 160 yards for the Wildcats in the jamboree they played in against Lake Mary and DeLand.

Dathan Glover, WR, Santa Fe Catholic: The rising junior racked in over 120 yards and three touchdowns in Santa Fe Catholic’s springs game over Bishop McLaughlin.

Ernest Nunn, WR, Poinciana: Nunn had himself a nice evening for the Eagles, catching five passes for 144 yards, three touchdowns. Also added a rush for 27 yards and made five tackles.

Chance Routson, QB, Boca Raton: Routson went off for Boca Raton, scoring four touchdowns and one of the scores came through air (115 yards) and three on the ground (175 yards).
