The Florida high school football season is scheduled to begin Thursday, Aug. 24 — 41 days from today. As we count down the days until kickoff, SBLive Florida will give you one significant number per day.

Heading into the 2023 season, the Lincoln Trojans are looking to reestablish themselves as a viable state championship contender in Class 3S and they should have the talent to do it.

One thing that has been somewhat inconsistent with the program has been head coaches since Yusuf Shakir, recently announced as being inducted into the FACA’s Hall of Fame, left after the 2016 campaign.

Since that time, the Trojans have seen multiple coaches come through, but current head coach Jimmie Tyson has created stability at the school. Tyson led the team to a 5-6 record in 2022 and now has the team preparing for a tough 2023 slate that includes opponents like Colquitt County (GA), Niceville and Pace.

Lincoln has won 41 games since Shakir left in 2016, with the team having four winning seasons during that stretch. Tyson looks to make that five in 2023.
