FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA – Quarterback Cedrick Bailey tossed three touchdown passes, Miami commit Zaquan Patterson had a pick six and Andrew Abu Ariel kicked a pair of field goals, including one from 50-yards, as Chaminade-Madonna improved to 2-0 with a 41-4 rout of host Cardinal Gibbons, Friday night.

Chaminade-Madonna, ranked No. 3 in Florida by SBLive Sports and No. 8 in the SBLive/Sports Illustrated National Power 25, much as it did last week against St. Frances (Maryland), got off to a slow start before finding another gear a pulling away to an easy win.

Cardinal Gibbons got off to a great start defensively, scoring on a pair of first-quarter safeties and grabbing a 4-0 lead. Following a sack by Chiefs’ defensive end Christopher Williams midway through the opening period, Chaminade-Madonna snapped a punt attempt out of the end zone. Later in the quarter, the Gibbons' defense tackled freshman Arwin Jackson in the end zone to build the unusual score.

The Lions finally got on the board with a 23-yard touchdown pass from Bailey to Kyle Washington in the first minute of the second quarter, and they never looked back. Patterson’s interception return of 35 yards made it 14-4 and the lead grew to 21-4 at the half after Bailey connected with Jaquri Lewis for a 40-yard scoring strike.

Chaminade added their fourth touchdown on a 33-yard run by Davion Gause early in the third quarter and stretched their lead to 34-4 after three quarters. Bailey capped the scoring and started a running clock with an 11-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.
