DUNCANVILLE, TEXAS - It’s been a tough start to the 2023 season for the Rockledge Raiders

After a preseason that brought up a lot of questions when it came to if the Raiders would be anything like last year’s group, the first two weeks have answered plenty. It could be a long season for Rockledge.

The tough results continued for the Raiders when they visited Texas powerhouse Duncanville on the road Saturday evening. Duncanville had an abundance of success on both sides of the ball as they rolled to a 44-0 victory over Rockledge (0-2).

In the latest SBLive Sports-Sports Illustrated Power 25 rankings, Duncanville (2-0) checked in at No. 6 after defeating South Oak Cliff 34-13 in the season opener.

The Panthers are ranked as the No. 1 team in the Lonestar State per the latest SBLive Texas Power 25. They have made things look easy through two games.

Panthers got the party started when LSU commitment Caden Durham scored on a 2-yard run with 7:20 left in the opening quarter.

Duncanville continued to add to their lead in the second quarter when quarterback Keelon Russell hit Zach Turner on a 46-yard touchdown pass to go up 14-0. Russell got the Panthers on the board again after a Raiders turnover when he connected on a 67-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver  Dakorien Moore.

Up 21-0, Russell threw his third touchdown pass of the opening half, hitting Nathan McCoy II on a 15 yarder to send the Panthers into halftime up four scores. Duncanville closed out the scoring on the night in the fourth quarter when Jameir Willis scored on a 26-yard touchdown.
