We’ve selected 11 candidates to choose from this past week’s games

High school football is back in the Sunshine State and so begins our Player of the Week polls for areas all around the state. Teams started off the regular season with some great individual performances in Week 8.

As such, we have 11 athletes nominated this week for the SBLive’s Florida Panhandle Offensive Football Player of the Week award from October 12-13 and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Saturday, October 21st at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced in next week's poll.

Here are this week's nominations:

Battle Alberson, QB, Gulf Breeze: The quarterback had a good outing despite in a loss to Tohopekaliga, Alberson completed 24-of-42 passes for 360 yards and one touchdown. 

Bryson Rouillier, WR, Gulf Breeze: Rouillier was the go-to-target for Alberson as he caught nine passes for 167 yards and one touchdown. 

Cooper Darke, WR, South Walton: The wide receiver had a strong game in the Seahawks' 35-19 win as he caught five passes for 121 yards and scored two touchdowns. 

Joe Wright, RB, Northview: Wright had a big game in the Chiefs' 41-19 win, rushing for 163 yards on 23 carries and scored two touchdowns. 

Corniulis Mckenzie, RB, Walton: Mckenzie was the workhorse for the Braves in the team's 23-21 win over Pensacola Catholic as he rushed for 120 yards on 23 carries and one touchdown. 

Ryan Huff, QB, Pensacola Catholic: The Crusaders quarterback completed 24-of-42 passes for 276 yards and three touchdowns in a loss to Walton. 

Sammy Freitas, QB, Mosley: Freitas added another solid performance to the books, as the signcal caller completed 12-of-18 passes for 181 yards and three touchdowns in a 35-0 win over Crestview. 

Jameson Bacon, RB, Holmes County: The running back rushed for 119 yards on eight carries and scored three touchdowns in a 53-21 win over Freeport. 

John Nicholas, QB, West Florida: The signal caller threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns in the Jaguars' 41-0 win over Pensacola. 

Johnny Lewis, QB, Fort Walton Beach: Lewis completed 16-of-21 passes for 252 yards and two touchdowns. The quarterback also rushed for 93 yards and two scores in a 44-14 win over Booker. T. Washington. 

Connor Mathews, RB, Navarre: Mathews has found his way on this list once again after rushing for 78 yards and three touchdowns in the Raiders' 51-14 win over Milton.
