Vote: Who is the 2023 Palm Beach County Offensive Player of the Year?
It was a strong year across the board out of Palm Beach County when it came down to offensive play.
From quarterbacks to running backs to wide receivers, there was plenty to get excited about if you were a fan of high school football out of Palm Beach County.
We continue our regional polls around the state as the high school football season winds down and ask the question: Who is the Offensive Player of the Year out of Palm Beach County for 2023?
We’ve selected 13 very worthy candidates and ask you the fan to vote for who you think topped them all.
Voting will end on December 31st, 2023.
Editor’s note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. This poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.
Here are the nominations:
Jayden Vega, QB, Benjamin: The Buccaneers' quarterback had a strong season for the 8-3 club, completing 91-of-143 passes for 1,574 yards, 19 touchdowns and just three interceptions.
Luke Warnock, QB, Cardinal Newman: Finishing what has been a strong high school career, Warnock ended it with a bang. The senior signal caller completed 86-of-122 passes for 1,356 yards and 22 touchdowns and just three picks.
Lincoln Graf, QB, Delray Beach Atlantic: Just a junior this fall, Graf was a big part of the reason why the Eagles were one of the top teams around. Graf completed 136-of-230 passes for 1,761 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Keyon Stephens, QB, Palm Beach Gardens: The senior quarterback proved all season long that he was one of the county's best at throwing and touting the rock. Stephens went 97-of-177 passes for 11 touchdowns and just four interceptions and also rushed for 859 on 117 carries and scored 16 times for the Gators.
Hardley Gilmore, WR, Pahokee: Opposing secondaries didn't have a fun time ever trying to track down Gilmore. The fleet footed wide receiver hauled in 52 passes for 879 yards and scored 15 touchdowns for the Blue Devils.
Shyeia Deveaux, QB, Santaluces: Deveaux was one of the most accurate quarterbacks in the region, completing 68 percent of his passes. The senior threw for 1,970 yards, 26 touchdowns and only seven interceptions.
Chance Routson, QB, Boca Raton: Routson through 11 games certainly proved his worth to his team. The sophomore threw for 2,760 yards, 25 touchdowns and also added 178 on the ground and three scores.
Caleb Butler, QB, Palm Beach Central: Butler had some big shoes to fill after last year's team reached the state semifinals of Class 4M. The sophomore had a breakout season for the Broncos, throwing for 2,149 yards and 29 touchdowns.
Luke Douglas, QB, Jupiter: This list compromises of a lot of quarterbacks, but none might've meant more to their team than Douglas. The senior signal caller threw for 2,114 yards, 21 touchdowns through the air. On the ground, Douglas rushed for 298 yards and 12 scores.
Roberto Venero, RB, Seminole Ridge: The hard running senior tailback was the engine to the Seminole Ridge offense. Venero rushed for 1,008 yards on 148 carries and scored 12 touchdowns for the 7-3 Hawks.
Javian Mallory, RB, West Boca Raton: Not many running backs have proven themselves to be quite like Mallory as a sophomore. The tailback carried the rock 131 times for 1,415 yards and scored 18 touchdowns.
Dylan Mayers, QB, Saint Andrew's: Mayers helped lead the Scots to the Class 2M playoffs behind a monster season. The Saint Andrew's quarterback had 27 total touchdowns along with throwing for 1,760 yards.
Joe Dailey, QB, King's Academy: The junior quarterback had some of the best numbers for anyone in Palm Beach County. Dailey completed 83-of-145 passes for 1,141 yards, 21 touchdowns for the Lions.
