The spring athletic season in under way. With that comes your chance to pick an SBLive Player of the Week in a new sport.

Here is the first Southwest Florida Baseball Player of the Week poll of the season. Each Monday a new poll will be posted on SBLive, and you'll get to help decide the winner by voting.Voting is open through Sunday, March 10, at 11:59 p.m., and the winner will be announced in next week's poll.

Here are this week's nominees:

Case Bowman, Estero: Put up six hits and seven RBIs, plus had seven strikeouts in two appearances, as the Wildcats won three games.

Thomas Cox, Palmetto Ridge: Went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and two RBIs in a win over Lely.

Jacob Estrada, Bonita Springs: Went 7-for-10 from the plate in three wins last week, including two doubles, two triples and six RBIs.

Jackson Geiger, Gulf Coast: Combined for six hits and nine RBIs in three straight wins for the Sharks.

Will Higby, Southwest Florida Christian: Hit a two-run homer that ended up being the difference in a 5-3 win over IMG Gold.

Dalton Hill, Charlotte: Struck out 12 batters and gave up just one hit in six innings to earn the win over Barron Collier.

Johnny King, Naples: Struck out 12 in four shutout innings against Golden Gate, and also had two RBIs at the plate.

Alan Overmyer, Barron Collier: Had four RBIs and scored twice while striking out five and earning the victory on the mound against Palmetto Ridge.

Keegan Pitstick, Ida Baker: Threw a complete-game shutout, giving up just one hit and striking out 12 in a 1-0 win over North Fort Myers.

Maddix Simpson, Bishop Verot: Piled up 10 hits and seven RBIs in four games for the 4-0 Vikings.
