Top 25 Florida girls flag football rankings (3/7/2024)

Newbies to this week’s rankings include FSU High, Park Vista and Stanton

It’s high school football season once again in the Sunshine State! Nope, not that kind of football. Not yet anyways, darn it.

Girls flag football season is underway throughout the state of Florida and there’s plenty of good ball being played.

Continuing to headline the top of the rankings heading into the second week of play is the No. 1, Alonso Ravens of Hillsborough County, and at No. 2 is Robinson. Both teams won state championships last May and are coming off strong 2023 campaigns. There’s a slew of teams we looked at for our initial rankings and now we break out the third edition. Find the complete breakdown of the SBLive Florida Girls Flag Football Power 25: 


1. Alonso (5-0)

Five up and five down for the Ravens. Gabby Werr and Raya Dean have led the team to 195 points scored through two games. Oh, and defense has yielded only one touchdown this season. 

2. Robinson (6-0) 

Haidyn Spano has been unreal this season, throwing for 1,186 yards and 28 touchdowns through six games. 

3. Lennard (5-0)

Abby Elwell has been strong under center for the Longhorns, throwing for 1,313 yards and 18 touchdowns through five contests. 

4. Choctawhatchee (3-0) 

The Indians have remained the dominant force on the Florida Panhandle, scoring 85 points and only allowing seven. 

5. Western (5-0)

The most dominant team down in South Florida has been the Wildcats, racking up 150 points scored and just six allowed. 

6. Fleming Island (5-0)

London Jenkins will find a way to the endzone somehow, some way. Jenkins has 410 all-purpose yards and five touchdowns this season. 

7. Miami Edison (4-0)

Defense has been the name of the game for the Red Raiders. They have yet to allow a point this season. 

8. Newsome (3-3)

Yes, the Wolves have three losses. All three are to teams ranked just ahead of them in these rankings. 

9. Steinbrenner (6-1) 

The Warriors latest win, 22-6 over East Lake, is the most recent display showing this is a team on the rise. 

10. Southridge (5-0) 

Another South Florida team that’s continued on a tear is the Spartans. This club has piled up 162 points through five games. 

11. Mainland (4-0)

Friendly confines of home has treated the Buccaneers well this season, going 3-0 so far. 

12. Paxon School (5-0)

Golden Eagles look like an unstoppable force in the Northeast region, scoring 130 points and only allowing six. 

13. Wellington (5-0)

No stopping this offense with Keelin Coleman throwing the rock. Coleman has thrown for 1,206 yards, 23 touchdowns and only one interception. 

14. Piper (5-0)

The Bengals have been an impressive bunch on both sides of the ball, pitching three shutouts so far. 

15. Trinity Catholic (6-0)

Celtics see a big leap in the standings as they’ve shown they’re one of the state’s top risers when it comes to improving programs. 

16. Fort Pierce Central (7-0) 

We were impressed with the Cobras in the preseason and they’ve built momentum from that well into the season. 

17. Park Vista (5-0) 

The Cobras enter our rankings this week after upending Seminole Ridge last week 20-7. Three shutout wins this season. 

18. Winter Park (5-0)

Only three teams on this list have yet to allow a single point this season, with the Wildcats out-scoring opponents 104-0. 

19. Seminole Ridge (4-1)

The Hawks drop in this week’s rankings after a 20-7 loss to Park Vista last week. Still are one of South Florida’s top teams. 

20. Braden River (6-0)

The pride of the South Suncoast has been the Pirates, riding an undefeated record and have scored 212 points this season. 

21. Navarre (5-1)

So with the impressive win over Pace last week, Navarre has catapulted into the rankings. Keep an eye on this bunch. 

22. Armwood (3-1) 

The Hawks dropped their first game of the season in a 21-14 defeat by Newsome. Armwood should bounce back before facing Lennard on April Fool’s Day. 

23. Pace (5-1)

Though the Patriots fell against Navarre last week, you can’t underestimate this group. They remain one of the Florida Panhandle’s best teams. 

24. FSU High (3-0)

Bring in the Seminoles as newbies to the rankings this week. FSU High has scored 116 points and is the third team in this list that yet to allow a point. 

25. Stanton (3-2)

Though the Blue Devils have a couple of close losses to their record, both blemishes have come against teams on this list (Fleming Island, Paxon School).
