MIAMI NORLAND 20, CHAMINADE-MADONNA 45

POST GAME

Chaminade-Madonna jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead in the first quarter as Derreck Lewis scored on a long run and Jaquari Wright scored on a 1-yard burst. Norland, however, 20 straight points over the next quarter and half, all fueled by its defense to go on top, 20-14.

The Lions then began dominating on defense as well and they scored the final 31 points of the game to win going away. Wright added a second short touchdown run, Lewis had a defensive touchdown with a pick six and Wright added a second touchdown pass, this time to Jasen Lopez.

Chaminade also got a TD run from Denarius Gray and field goal from Noah Sidan.

Norland quarterback Ennio Yapoor scored on a 16-yard run, Jerrard Smith scored on a 50-yard pick six and Shawn Smith recovered a fumble and returned 57 yards for the Vikings' third touchdown.

FOURTH QUARTER

- INTERCEPTION! Darius Smith comes up Chaminade-Madonna interception with 1:17 left. The Lions then run out the clock and complete a 45-20 victory.

- Chaminade-Madonna is closing in on a victory. The defense has secured the ball back on downs with 5:44 to go in the game. The Lions are at their own 29.

THIRD QUARTER

- The third quarter clock has expired.

- TOUCHDOWN! Jaquari Lewis scores from 1-yard out for the second time tonight. Lions are rolling, 45-20, with just 19 seconds to play in the third quarter.

- TURNOVER ON DOWNS! The Chaminade-Madonna defense has taken control. On a 4th and long play, the Lions sacked Ennio Yapoor and got the ball back at their own 40. We're late in the third quarter.

- TOUCHDOWN! After turning Norland over on downs, deep in its own territory, Chaminade drives for another score, capped by a 8-yard pass from Preston Wright to Jasen Lopez. It's 38-20 with 7:41 remaining in the third.

- TOUCHDOWN! Derrick Cooper, who already had an offensive touchdown, scores for Chaminade-Madonna on a 23-yard pick six. Kick is good and the Lions lead 31-20 early in the third quarter.

- The second half is underway as Norland starts at its own 20.

HALFTIME

- After the kickoff, Norland takes a knee to bring an end to the first half.

- FUMBLE RECOVERY & FIELD GOAL! With 43 second left in the first half, Noah Sidan hits a 43-yard field goal after Matthew Pointer recovered a fumble for the Lions. Chaminade-Madonna leads, 24-20.

- TOUCHDOWN! Denarius Gray scores to put the Lions back in front, 21-20, with 3:40 to play in the half.

- FUMBLE RECOVERY! Chaminade-Madonna's defense comes through with a turnover of its own.

- TOUCHDOWN! More great defense from Norland. Shawn Smith scoops a fumble and returns 57 yards for a touchdown. Kick is good and the Vikings lead 20-14. There is 9:42 to go in the second quarter.

- TOUCHDOWN! The Norland defense comes through again. Jerrard Smith scores on a 50-yard pick six. The kick is good and the score is 14-13 Chaminade, with 11:18 left in the first half.

SECOND QUARTER

- The first quarter ends with Chaminade-Madonna leading 14-6.

- TOUCHDOWN! Norland is on the board. The Vikings go 83 yards as Ennio Yapoor completes a 41-yard pass to Dawson Quarterman before running himself for a 16-yard TD. The point after try failed. We're late left in the first quarter.

- INTERCEPTION! With Chaminade driving for another score, the Norland defense responded with an interception that returns the football to the Vikings at their own 17.

- Norland goes three and out and punts the ball back. The Lions are at midfield.

- TOUCHDOWN! After a 55-yard Preston Wright to Koby Howard pass, on a third down play, Jaquari Lewis cashes in with a 1-yard TD run. Lions lead 14-0 with 6:56 to go in the first.

- Chaminade-Madonna forces a punt and the Lions have the ball back.

- After a touchback, Norland has the ball at its own 20.

- TOUCHDOWN! The Lions break on top first with a 55-yard run from Derrek Cooper. The PAT is good and Chaminade leads 7-0 with 9:43 to play in the opening quarter.

- The Lions start their first drive at their own 25.

- Chaminade-Madonna will receive the opening kick.
