Calabasas wide receiver Johnny Wilson commits to Oregon Ducks
Calabasas wide receiver Johnny Wilson announced his commitment to the University of Oregon Monday morning. The rising senior tweeted out the news following a campus visit over the weekend.
Wilson is a consensus national recruit who has played varsity football since his freshman year for the Coyotes. We ranked Wilson as the number six player in the region earlier this month. He chose Oregon over Ohio State, Texas, UCLA and Washington.
In a season he battled injuries, Wilson caught 40 passes for 672 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2018. He'll be Calabasas quarterback Jaden Casey's main target in 2019 following the departure of Jermaine Burton to IMG Academy.
Oregon continues to dominate Southern California recruiting scene
Last year Oregon landed Oaks Christian defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux, a consensus top five recruit in the nation. The five highest rated players in Oregon's 2019 recruiting class all came from SoCal, per 247Sports.com. That group includes Wilson's former Calabasas teammate, wide receiver Mycah Pittman.
In the 2020 class, six of the Ducks' 17 commits come from Southern California. Wilson is the top ranked player in the group, per 247Sports.
