With 9:30 to play in the third quarter of a Southern Section Division 12 semifinal football game between Adelanto and Orange Vista on Friday night, a bench-clearing fight broke out. Adelanto's defense stuffed an Orange Vista run inside the five yard line on a third and goal and then a melee ensued.

The game was abandoned after the scuffle with Adelanto leading 41-0. The Southern Section hasn't ruled on whether a team will advance to the championship. There is a CIF bylaw that states all players who leave the bench area during a fight are suspended for their team's next contest.

If both teams are removed from the playoffs, El Monte will be the Division 12 champion following their 22-15 semifinal win over Jurupa Hills.
