Congratulations to Casa Grande running back RJ Keeton for being voted the WaFd Bank Arizona High School Athlete of the Week!

Keeton had three rushing touchdowns in the Cougars’ 52-7 victory over the Lake Havasu Knights on Oct. 9.

Keeton received 55.3% of the vote, beating out Queen Creek QB Devin Brown, who finished with 27.32%. Cactus QB Will Galvan finished third with 11.61% and Queen Creek RB/CB Payton Barlow was fourth with 2.48%.

Here are the other athletes who were nominated for Oct. 5-11:

John Beltran, Cibola RB

Beltran went for three touchdowns and more than 180 yards in a 34-14 victory over Yuma.

Angel Flores, Casa Grande QB

Flores had three passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns Thursday in a 52-7 rout of Lake Havasu.

Eli Sanders, Chandler RB

Sanders went for 200 rushing yards and four touchdowns in the first half of a 64-0 annihilation of Pinnacle.

Liam Phelan, St. Mary’s RB

Phelan had three rushing touchdowns in a 33-12 victory over Vista Grande, including one from 65 yards. 

Nicco Marchiol, Hamilton QB

Marchiol led the Huskies to a 64-22 victory over Perry with two passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns in less than a full night of work.

Noah Schmidt, Hamilton RB

Schmidt also went for four touchdowns (three rushing, one receiving) before exiting the blowout victory early.

Jacob Cisneros, Boulder Creek RB

Cisneros ran for three touchdowns and had a 95-yard kickoff-return touchdown in a 46-0 blowout of Skyline.

Will Galvan, Cactus QB

Galvan ran for three touchdowns in the first half, and he threw for another in the second half against Peoria. Cactus put the game away early behind Galvan’s efforts and won 43-0.

Payton Barlow, Queen Creek RB/CB

Barlow came up big on both sides in a 37-6 statement win against Williams Field. He caught a touchdown pass and picked up yardage on the ground on offense, and he recorded two interceptions on defense. 

Devin Brown, Queen Creek QB

Brown had three touchdown passes in the first half to help Queen Creek build an insurmountable lead. 

James Scott, Centennial RB

On a night Centennial received significant contributions from three different running backs, Scott still shined. He helped propel the Coyotes to a 37-0 victory over Mountain Pointe with two rushing touchdowns and more than 120 rushing yards. 

Ashton Zacher, Canyon View QB

Zacher threw for both of Canyon View’s touchdowns in a 17-12 victory over Maricopa. It was 5A Canyon View’s first varsity win in program history. 

John Mendoza, Mesa QB

Mendoza led Mesa to a 21-14 victory over Gilbert with two passing touchdowns, 159 passing yards and 52 rushing yards. 

Rudy Gonzalez, Deer Valley QB

Gonzalez propelled Deer Valley to a 38-13 victory over Washington with three passing touchdowns, 196 passing yards on 70 percent completion and 44 rushing yards.

Ashton Hill, Deer Valley RB/LB

Hill also came up big for the Skyhawks, rushing for 124 yards and two touchdowns and contributing to a strong defensive effort.

Kaden Majercak, Valley Christian RB

Majercak led the Trojans to a 21-7 win over Phoenix Christian with 133 rushing yards (more than 10 yards per carry), a rushing touchdown and 33 receiving yards.
