Kennedy Urlacher, son of Brian Urlacher, commits to Notre Dame

The three-star safety had a strong junior season for Chandler (Arizona)

Kennedy Urlacher, the son of former Chicago Bears star linebacker Brian Urlacher, will also be playing football in the heartland.

The three-star junior safety from Chandler (Arizona) announced his commitment to Notre Dame on Monday. Urlacher picked the Fighting Irish over nearly two-dozen other offers, including finalists Illinois, Kansas State, Miami, Penn State and TCU.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Urlacher is a versatile safety who excels in zone and man coverage. He missed most of his sophomore season due to injury and has amassed 80 tackles, three interceptions and 12 pass breakups during his time at Chandler.

Urlacher’s first scholarship offer came from New Mexico, his dad’s alma mater. Brian Urlacher won NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2005 and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.

Kennedy Urlacher is the 13th member of Notre Dame’s 2024 recruiting class, a group that ranks fifth nationally. The class includes fellow defensive backs Leonard Moore (Round Rock, Texas) and Karson Hobbs (Archbishop Moeller, Ohio)
