Josh Webb, running back/linebacker

Rushed for more than 1,200 yards as a junior. An ultra-competitor with a great first step.

Seth Sutherby, linebacker

Team’s top tackler returns. First team all-league selection as a junior. Brings heavy pressure and erases activity in middle.

Marshall Coleman, quarterback

Over 1,000 yards throwing, rushed for over 700 yards as a junior. Reliable dual-threat playmaker. Also plays corner.

OUTLOOK

Kelso has been knocking on the door for a 3A Greater St. Helens League title. Could this be the year the Hilanders break through?

Mountain View has beat out Kelso for the league title each of the last three seasons — and Columbia River the two before that. But the Thunder graduate 35 seniors from a team that made the 3A state semifinals last year, while Kelso brings back a sizable chunk of its production.

With league defensive player of the year Riley Noah graduated, the Hilanders have capable hands in running back Josh Webb, also a first-team selection, and a returning starting quarterback in Marshall Coleman handing him the ball. Webb will also hold down the center of the Kelso defense alongside fellow linebacker Seth Sutherby. Both are seniors, and were first team all-league selections on defense last season.

In past seasons, Mountain View and Kelso’s stronghold of the league has been pronounced. But head coach Steve Amrine sees Prairie, Evergreen and Hudson’s Bay as tough competitors on the rise.
