THREE TO SEE
Jacob Crumb, offensive lineman
Sure, he has long arms, quick feet and is a good athlete. But will to succeed unmatched
Michael Faber, wide receiver
Averages 23.5 yards per catch for his career, so you know he can take it the distance
Payton Thomas, linebacker
Still runs it on offense like his father, Richard (Kentwood, UW); but this is his best position
OUTLOOK
If you are a quarterback, Kentridge’s offense under Ogata is dreamy. You get to drop back and sling it, and you also get the popular run-pass option stuff, too -- all merged into one attack.
Thing is, Ogata isn’t sure who will run the show after San Jose State signee Natano Woods in 2019.
He has interesting options: Senior George Strunk transferred in from Kentwood, and has great size (6-4) to see the field. But ninth grader Chance Guadiz is talented, and trained by a guy Ogata called plays for at Skyline -- Jake Heaps. And even Thomas, the team’s best running back, is being considered for the position.
What the Chargers do not have to worry about is their defense -- particularly their linebacking corps with all-leaguers all over the place (Albrecht, Thomas, Alonso Renteria).
