Every week during the 2020 football season, SBLive Arkansas will rank the top high school football teams in every classification.

Here are the 3A rankings as compiled by SBLive reporters Connor Morrissette and Lance Smith.

1. Harding Academy (6-1)

As the reigning champion, Harding Academy had to like its chances going up against unbeaten Newport. But a 31-7 domination of the Greyhounds was its best victory yet. The Wildcats likely will finish the regular season unbeaten against in-state competition after facing Salem this week.

2. Prescott (7-0)

The Jessieville squad Prescott blew out last week is not a bad team — the Curley Wolves are just peaking at the right time. That's good, because they might face their biggest test of the regular season this week against 8-1 Glen Rose.

3. McGehee (7-0)

The Owls cruised past Dollarway last week, as expected. They are heavily favored to finish the regular season undefeated after hosting 1-5 Smackover.

4. Hoxie (8-0)

Hoxie made it look easy last week against a solid Osceola team, winning 55-21. The Mustangs will be heavily favored this week against Walnut Ridge, and a win would complete an undefeated regular season.

5. Newport (8-1)

Getting stifled by Harding Academy was not the result Newport wanted, and probably not the one it expected. That said, the Greyhounds still have a good shot to go on a deep playoff run and maybe still compete for a title. They hope to regroup this week against Mountain View.
