Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Alabama high school athlete of the week for Oct. 26-Nov. 1 as nominated by coaches and fans. We'll send a free SBLive T-shirt to the winner of the poll! Woody Anthony, McAdory boys cross country: The senior won the Jefferson County Schools Championship with a time of 17:19.00.

Jerry Burton, Priceville football: The senior led the Bulldogs to a 35-29 victory against St. John Paul II with 266 rushing yards and three touchdowns. 

Ann Cobern Chapman, Montgomery Academy volleyball: The senior captain tallied 21 kills, 10 digs and nine blocks against Curry in the 4A championship match, leading the Eagles to the state title. 

JC Daniel, Homewood football: The junior booted a 42-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Patriots to a 20-18 win over Pelham. Daniel made two field goals and two extra points in the game. 

Ethan Edgeworth, Cold Springs boys cross country: The freshman ran a 16:17.49 for a first-place finish at the Cullman County Championship.

David Gardner Jr., Minor football: The senior running back turned 10 carries into 243 yards and two scores as the Tigers defeated Woodlawn 42-7 in a Thursday night game. 

Strother Gibbs, Mountain Brook football: The senior quarterback accounted for four touchdowns (two passing, two rushing) in the Spartans’ 31-22 win over Austin. 

Braden Glenn, Vestavia Hills football: Glenn, a senior, accounted for five touchdowns — two passing, three rushing — to power the Rebels to a 52-27 victory against Shades Valley. 

Ethan Gomez, Marbury football: The sophomore piled up 195 rushing yards and three touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 41-21 win over Chilton County.

Trey Higgins, Oxford football: The senior quarterback passed for 200 yards and four touchdowns and added 55 yards rushing, powering the Yellow Jackets to a 32-31 victory over Central.

Steele Joiner, Lawrence County boys cross country: The junior finished in first place at the Northwest Alabama Championship with a time of 16:42.54.

Quinshon Judkins, Pike Road football: The junior rushed for four touchdowns in the Patriots’ 56-6 rout of Booker T. Washington. 

Evelyn King, Mountain Brook volleyball: The senior libero was the MVP of the 6A state tournament. She recorded 16 digs and two aces against Hartselle in the final as the Spartans claimed the championship with a 3-0 win.

Bennett Meredith, Spain Park football: The junior passed for a whopping 514 yards in a shootout with Hueytown, completing 34 of 41 passes for four touchdowns in a 63-62 win for the Jaguars. 

Rya McKinnon, Hoover volleyball: On a team of stars, McKinnon shone the brightest at the 7A state tournament. The junior outside hitter and team captain was named tournament MVP as the Buccaneers swept through Baker, Thompson and Spain Park to win the state title. She totaled 51 kills and 33 digs in the three matches.

Ty Mims, Baldwin County football: Mims did it all for the Tigers in a 53-22 win over LeFlore, rushing for a touchdown, throwing a touchdown pass and scoring on an 88-yard kick return. He totaled 319 all-purpose yards. 

Jaxson Mitchell, Hatton football: Mitchell, a senior, rushed for 189 yards and three touchdowns as the Hornets cruised past Clements for a 40-22 win.

Brandon Musch, Westminster Christian football: Musch, a 5-10, 165-pound freshman quarterback, was 23 of 34 for 278 yards and three touchdowns in the Wildcats’ 44-38 victory over Lee. He also rushed for 100 yards and two scores. 

Reagan Parris, Cold Springs girls cross country: The freshman won the first-place medal at the Cullman County Championship with a time of 20:43.15.

Logan Pate, Guntersville football: The junior carried 17 times for 218 yards and four touchdowns in the Wildcats’ 54-0 victory against Albertville.

Mary Claire Ridgeway, Florence girls cross country: The senior won the Northwest Alabama Championship in 19:25.87.

Myka Rogers, Corner girls cross country: Rogers, a junior, recorded a 20:20.00 to finish in first place at the Jefferson County Schools Championship.

Alex Young, Hueytown football: The junior quarterback did all he could against Spain Park, completing 25 of 38 passes for 377 yards and three touchdowns and rushing for 143 yards and another score in the Golden Gophers’ 63-62 loss.
