HOW THE TOP 10 FARED (NOV. 13)
1. Oak Grove (10-0) beat Biloxi 54-34
Kabe Barnett and the Grovers piled it on, and now they get Harrison Central in the quarterfinals.
2. Oxford (10-0) beat Madison Central 25-23
The defending 6A state champs, who have now won 23 games in a row going back to last season, stuffed a potential game-tying two-point conversion by Madison Central with less than a minute to play. They'll play Hernando in the quarterfinals. -- GAME STORY
3. D’Iberville (10-0) beat Petal 33-31
D'Iberville scored on a 19-yard TD pass — on a fourth down play — with 45 seconds left to pull out the victory. They'll play Northwest Rankin in the quarterfinals. -- GAME STORY
4. South Panola (8-3) lost to Hernando 36-33
In the biggest upset of the first round, Shawn Wade scored four TDs — including the game-winning touchdown with 3:16 to play — to lift Hernando to the win. They will play Oxford in the next round. -- GAME STORY
5. Newton County (10-1) lost to North Pike 31-28
The Cougars' remarkable season is over after a second-round playoff loss to North Pike.
6. Clinton (9-2) beat Horn Lake 35-7
Caleb Miller had a huge game as Clinton rolled to a first-round win. The Arrows will play Warren Central in the quarterfinals. -- GAME STORY
7. Ridgeland (9-2) beat Lake Cormorant 36-28
Zy McDonald threw the game-winning touchdown pass to Donovan Ball with less than 15 seconds to play.
8. Neshoba Central (8-1) beat Lafayette by forfeit
The Rockets advanced to the quarterfinals by forfeit after their first-round opponent, Lafayette, had a COVID-19 outbreak.
9. Harrison Central (8-2) beat Pearl 49-21
Harrison Central had no trouble with Pearl and will face Oak Grove in the next round.
T-10. Madison Central (7-4) lost to Oxford 25-23
The Jaguars had a chance to tie the game with less than a minute to play, but were stuffed on a two-point conversion attempt.
T-10. West Jones (10-2) beat Picayune 35-23
The Mustangs handed the Maroon Tide their third consecutive loss. They will face Laurel in the quarterfinals.
