Editor’s Note: Our Coach of the Week feature and corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. Bryant Appling, Buford: The Wolves have taken care of business all season, but all of that would have been forgotten with a loss to Mill Creek, who is also nationally ranked, last Friday night. The Wolves went toe-to-toe with the Hawks and beat them in every facet of the game to remain unbeaten on the season. Head coach Bryant Appling punched all the right buttons, too, proving that talent aside, coaching still matters.
Daniel Brunner, Walton: After a disappointing performance at home against North Cobb week before last, Walton head coach Daniel Brunner had his team ready to play last Friday night when his Raiders traveled to undefeated Kennesaw Mountain. The Raiders smelled blood and dominated from the opening kickoff, winning the game 42-14 to keep their region championship hopes alive.
Lenny Gregory, Collins Hill: Losing can bring the worst out in a team, but not Lenny Gregory’s Collins Hill Eagles. Despite losing four games in a row, Gregory kept a fire lit under his team and it paid off Friday night with a much-needed 14-0 shutout victory over a good Mountain View team. Gregory’s defense held the Bears to under 100 yards of offense and has the defending 7A state champs pointed back in the right direction.
Corey Jarvis, Lithia Springs: Corey Jarvis has his Lithia Springs Lions rolling right now after they took down Banneker 35-6 Friday night to win their fourth straight. The Lions defense is allowing just 2 points-per-game over their last three and are well on their way to earning a playoff berth for the fourth consecutive year under Jarvis.
Josh Cassidy, Harrison: With nothing going Harrison’s way so far this season, it would have been easy for the Hoyas to mail it in. However, the Hoyas were able to turn their season around Friday night with a huge 24-21 road win at North Paulding to keep their postseason hopes alive. The win is just their second this season, but it improves them to 1-1 in Region 3-AAAAAAA play.
