Ashton Woods, 3-star rated linebacker, commits to North Carolina over Baylor and Wake Forest

Walton (Georgia) three-star linebacker Ashton Woods made his commitment on Wednesday afternoon to the Tar Heels

MARIETTA, GEORGIA- When it comes to one of the most sure tacklers in the Peach State returning in 2023, you have to mention Walton’s Ashton Woods. 

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound linebacker statistically was a top tackler and on Wednesday afternoon made his decision on where he will be playing collegiately. 

Walton (Georgia) junior linebacker Ashton Woods announced Wednesday afternoon via Twitter that he is committing to North Carolina. The defensive star is a 3-star rated prospect according to 247Sports and also had offers on the table from Arkansas, Baylor, Boston College and Wake Forest.

Last season for the Raiders, Woods put up some impressive numbers out of the front seven. The linebacker racked up 128 tackles, 11 for loss, five sacks and an interception. 

Woods was highly coveted around the country and also had offers from Charlotte, Georgia Southern, Georgia Tech, Kansas State, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami (FL), Mississippi State, NC State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Pitt, Tennessee, UCF, USC, USF, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Wake Forest.
