Breaking: Camden County (Georgia) head coach Jeff Herron retires
One of the Peach State’s winningest head coaches is retiring from coaching.
On Friday morning, Camden County’s football X, formerly known as Twitter, handle announced that Jeff Herron would be retiring from coaching. Herron has won 334 games and five state championships during his time with the Wildcats.
Herron started out as the lead man at Camden County back in 1989 and from that time on became a South Georgia legend out of Kingsland.
The longtime head coach compiled 30 playoff appearances during his time at Camden County from 1989-2023. This past 2023 season might’ve been one of his best coaching jobs of them all.
After 7-3 regular season, Herron guided the Wildcats to an incredible playoff run through the AAAAAAA postseason, with wins over Newton, McEachern and Mill Creek. Their run ended with a 41-25 loss to Walton in the state semifinals.
We will have more on this breaking story as more information is provided.
