Photos: O'Fallon girls basketball edges Alton in Illinois sectional semifinal
O'FALLON, Ill. – Jailah Pelly scored 10 of her team-high 12 points in the second half on Tuesday night to lead O'Fallon to a 49-43 victory over visiting Alton in a Class 4A sectional semifinal showdown of two of the top teams in Illinois.
Shannon Dowell added 10 points for O'Fallon (30-4), which is ranked eighth in the SBLive Illinois Power 25 girls basketball rankings. Josie Christopher and Laylah Jackson scored eight points apiece while D'Myjah Bolds chipped in with seven.
Kiyoko Proctor led seventh-ranked Alton (31-2) with 17 points, including 14 in the first half. Jarius Powers added 14 points.
O'Fallon and Alton played each other four times this season and each won twice. Alton won the first two meetings and O'Fallon won the final two.
O'Fallon, which has won 10 straight games, advances to face Normal Community at 7 pm. Thursday. Normal Community beat East Moline 60-22 on Tuesday.
