Jonas Williams, top 2026 QB in Illinois, transfers to Lincoln-Way East High School

Williams passed for 3,196 yards and 33 TDs as a sophomore

Jonas Williams, the top sophomore quarterback in the state of Illinois, announced Tuesday he had transferred to Lincoln-Way East High School.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Williams, who already holds several early Division I scholarship offers, was one of the state's top quarterbacks the past two seasons at Bolingbrook – where he accounted for 2,950 yards and 31 touchdowns as a sophomore – and now joins a Lincoln-Way East squad that finished as the runner-up in Class 8A the past two seasons.

LLE, which lost to Loyola Academy 26-15 in the 8A title game, went 13-1 in 2023 but will graduate senior starting quarterback Braden Tischer, who threw for 1,837 yards and 19 touchdowns (with two interceptions) and ran for 360 yards and three scores.

Williams, a two-year starter at Bolingbrook, passed for 2,737 yards and 37 touchdowns as a freshman. He has received early scholarship offers from Michigan, Tennessee, Illinois, Arkansas, Louisville, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Marshall and Kent State.

The major recruiting outlets have only released limited rankings for prospects in the Class of 2026, but Williams is already ranked as a four-star prospect by On3.
