QUINCY, ILLINOIS – Lathan Sommerville recorded a double-double with 27 points and 10 rebounds to lead Peoria Richwoods (Ill.) past Lee's Summit (Mo.) West 61-58 on Saturday afternoon at the Quincy Shootout.
Sommerville, a 6-foot-10 senior forward who has signed with Rutgers, earned the game's most valuable player honors. He shot 10 of 20 from the field, including knocking down two of his three 3-point attempts, and also recorded three blocked shots.
Senior guards Daquan Little and Tavie Smith each added 13 points in the victory. Smith also recorded six rebounds.
Chaz Watson, a 6-3 senior guard headed to Cleveland State, led Lee's Summit West with 25 points, including five 3-pointers. Freshman forward Cameron Barnes recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds and also had two steals.
Lee's Summit West is ranked 14th in the SBLive Missouri Power 25 basketball rankings.
