Here are the candidates for SBLive's Illinois High School Athlete of the Week as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff.

Trevor Anifer, Lemont boys bowling

The senior won the individual title at the Sandburg Sectional, rolling a 300 game en route to a six-game total of 1,527 (254.5 average).

Christian Benning, Streator boys basketball

The senior scored a game- and season-high 39 points, grabbed eight rebounds, handed out three assists and had two steals in a 91-77 win against Rochelle.

Gianni Cobb, Homewood-Flossmoor boys basketball

The Columbia recruit scored 22 points, including eight straight for his team, in a 59-51 come-from-behind win against Downers Grove North.

Dave Flowers, Niles West boys basketball

The senior scored 25 points and became the fifth player in program history to reach 1,000 career points in a 90-81 triple-overtime loss to Niles North.

Aaliyah Grandberry, Curie girls wrestling

The senior won the Public League 235-pound title, defeating Rickover's Jasmine Mejia 3-2 in overtime in a matchup of unbeaten returning state placers.

Evelyn Ingram, Lockport girls basketball

The freshman hit 5-for-6 from 3-point range, scored 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in a 65-19 win against St. Viator.

Jason Jakstys, Yorkville boys basketball

The Illinois recruit had 13 points, 22 rebounds, six assists and two blocks in a 67-65 win against Young.

Morez Johnson, Thornton boys basketball

The Illinois recruit scored 21 points and played tough defense on Benet sophomore standout Gabe Sularski as the Wildcats handed the Redwings their first home loss since 2020, 64-54.

Trinity Jones, Bolingbrook girls basketball

The sophomore reached the 1,000-point mark for her career during a 64-47 win against Maine South.

A.J. Levine, York boys basketball

The Penn recruit scored the Dukes' first 14 points and finished with 24, including six 3-pointers, in a 57-51 win against Oswego East.

Elijah Lovemore, Bloom boys basketball

The junior had a triple-double of 11 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists in an 81-46 win against Thornridge.

Mason Minor, Curie boys basketball

The senior had a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds in an 86-60 win against Joliet West. He also had 16 points in a 58-55 victory over Father Tolton (Mo.) at the Quincy Shootout.

Nate Othon, Seneca boys wrestling

The senior won the 150-pound title and picked up his 100th career win at the Rochester Rocket Invitational.

Chris Riddle, Kenwood boys basketball

The DePaul recruit scored 31 points as the Broncos handed Mount Carmel its first in-state loss of the season, winning 82-70.

Mike Robinson, Morton boys bowling

The senior won the Rockford Jefferson Sectional title with a six-game total of 1,478 (246.3 average).

John Sachs, Glenbrook North boys bowling

The junior won the Warren Sectional title with a six-game pinfall of 1,385 (230.8 average).

JT Schmitt, Johnsburg boys basketball

The junior tied a program record, hitting eight 3-pointers and finishing with 24 points in a 77-33 win against Harvard.

Nathan Scearce, Bartlett boys basketball

The senior reached 1,000 points for his career in a 65-47 win over West Chicago.

Wyatt Schmitt, Joliet West boys wrestling

The Ohio recruit improved to 21-0 with an 18-3 technical fall in the 285-pound title bout at the Southwest Prairie Conference Tournament.

Jack Stanton, Downers Grove North boys basketball

The Princeton recruit reached the 1,000-point mark in a 49-25 win against York. He also scored 21 on 7-for-12 shooting from 3-point range in a 59-51 loss to Homewood-Flossmoor.
