Top 25 Illinois high school boys basketball rankings (2/6/2024)
The top four teams remain unchanged, but defending Class 3A champion Metamora continues its steady climb by moving into the top five.
Elsewhere, Marian Catholic, Evanston and Loyola join the rankings.

1. Homewood-Flossmoor (24-3)

Carson Brownfield scored 20 and Bryce Heard had 19 points, but the Vikings lost 78-57 to Indiana power Fishers – their second defeat against an out-of-state team. Earlier in the week, they beat Sandburg 80-56, Bolingbrook 80-64 and Lincoln-Way East 78-70.
2. Curie (24-2)

The Condors won their first two games in the Public League playoffs, 82-55 over Morgan Park and 57-30 against Payton. Taevion Collier led four scorers in double figures vs. Morgan Park, finishing with 16 points. Carlos Harris III led the way against Payton with 12.
3. Thornton (23-3)

The Wildcats knocked off Kankakee 59-54, rolled past Thornridge 71-38 and held off Cardinal Ritter (Mo.) 53-50 as Illinois recruit Morez Johnson was one point shy of posting three triple-doubles. He had 15 points and 13 rebounds vs. Kankakee, 20 points and 12 rebounds (plus five steals and four blocks) against Thornridge and nine points and 12 rebounds (with four blocks) vs. Cardinal Ritter.
4. Mount Carmel (25-3)

Lee Marks III had 21 points in a 58-55 win against St. Francis and Noah Mister scored 19 in a 61-47 victory against Wheaton-Warrenville South.
5. Metamora (23-4)

The Redbirds have won 10 straight since losing to Thornton on Jan. 6. The most recent victories are 45-42 over Pekin and 47-38 against Normal behind 16 points from Cooper Koch.
6. Kenwood (20-6)
Previous rank: 8
The Broncos have won eight straight after beating Wisconsin power Carmen Northwest 94-76 and cruising past their first two opponents in the Public League playoffs: 111-30 over Longwood and 76-31 against Bogan. Calvin Robins had double-doubles vs. Carmen Northwest (20 points, 15 rebounds) and Bogan (14 points, 15 rebounds). Jaden Smith had double-doubles vs. Carmen Northwest (16 points, 13 rebounds) and Longwood (10 rebounds, 10 blocks).
7. DePaul Prep (24-2)

The Rams' winning streak is at six after beating IC Catholic 67-21, Providence 60-32 and St. Ignatius 57-40. Jaylan McElroy had 17 points and eight rebounds vs. St. Ignatius and contributed 12 points and seven rebounds against Providence.
8. Quincy (24-2)

The Blue Devils beat Moline 54-37, East Moline United 65-32 and East St. Louis 65-51.
9. Brother Rice (23-3)
Previous rank: 11
The Crusaders got past Marmion 58-53 and cruised past St. Rita 66-28.
10. Bolingbrook (20-4)

Freshman Davion Thompson scored 26 points as the Raiders took down the Chicago area's last big-school unbeaten, knocking off Waubonsie Valley 71-56. Bolingbrook also fell 80-64 to Homewood-Flossmoor and beat Sandburg 80-62.
11. Benet Academy (20-5)

The Redwings beat St. Patrick 59-42 before dropping back-to-back conference games, 65-64 to Marist and 67-60 to Marian Catholic. Jayden Wright scored a game-high 22 vs. Marian.
12. Waubonsie Valley (23-1)
Previous rank: 7
The Warriors' season-opening winning streak hit 23 with a 54-43 victory against DeKalb. But it ended with a 71-56 loss to Bolingbrook. Tyreek Coleman had a game-high 31 points against Bolingbrook.
13. Warren (24-4)
Previous rank: 13
The Blue Devils have won four straight after beating Mundelein 54-46 and Waukegan 91-63.
14. Downers Grove North (22-4)
Previous rank: 14
The Trojans picked up three West Suburban Silver wins: 51-41 vs. Lyons, 48-44 against Oak Park-River Forest and 87-47 over Proviso West.
15. Marist (22-4)
Previous rank: 25
The RedHawks avenged an earlier one-point loss at Benet, beating the Redwings 65-64 on Darshan Thomas' buzzer-beater. They also picked up close wins against Niles Notre Dame (47-44) and St. Patrick (60-56).
16. Normal (23-5)
Previous rank: 15
Braylon Roman scored 19 points, but the Ironmen lost 47-38 to Metamora. They also had wins against Mahomet-Seymour (56-43) and Danville (73-48).
17. Kankakee (20-3)
Previous rank: 18
The Kays lost to Thornton for the second time this season, 59-54, despite 19 points from Damontae May. But they bounced back to beat Bloom 66-57 as Larenz Walters scored 23 and May had 17 points and eight assists.
18. Marian Catholic (18-8)
Previous rank: NR
The Spartans picked up a signature road win in the East Suburban Catholic, beating Benet 67-60 behind 18 points from James Bullock Jr. Marian also beat Nazareth 63-51 as Zack Sharkey scored 16 and cruised past St. Viator 78-47 as Adam Shorter had 15 points.
19. Evanston (19-9)

The Wildkits have won four straight, including noteworthy victories against De La Salle (65-62 in overtime) and New Trier (37-35).
20. New Trier (22-6)
Previous rank: 17
The Trevians beat North Chicago 58-30 and dropped a Central Suburban South game, 37-35 to Evanston.
21. Loyola (23-5)
Previous rank: NR
The Ramblers have won six straight after beating Montini 56-27, IC Catholic 66-46 and Leo 58-37.
22. Collinsville (23-3)
Previous rank: 22
The Kahoks knocked off East St. Louis 64-58 for their third straight win.
23. Rich (18-7)
Previous rank: 23
The Raptors won a pair of Southland games, 93-34 against Thornridge and 68-59 against Thornwood.
24. Bloom (14-8)
Previous rank: 21
The Blazing Trojans had balanced scoring in a 48-43 win against Thornwood, and got a triple-double (21 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists) from Elijah Lovemore in a 66-57 loss to Kankakee.
25. Centralia (25-2)
Previous rank: 24
The Orphans extended their winning streak to four games by beating Marion 40-35 and Salem 67-26.
