Franklin's Max Clark projected fourth overall in latest MLB.com mock draft
Franklin Community outfielder Max Clark is regarded as one of the top high school baseball players in the country as well as one of the top prospects for the Major League Baseball Draft from July 9-11.
The Vanderbilt signee was projected to go fifth overall in the first round to the Minnesota Twins by MLB.com writer Jim Callis back on May 4.
On Thursday, MLB.com writer Jonathan Mayo released his first mock draft and had Clark going fourth overall to the Texas Rangers.
Keith Law of The Athletic published a story Friday morning about Clark and his status as a top prospect and wrote that he doubts the 6-foot-1, 190-pound left-handed hitting center fielder will fall further than the fifth overall pick this year.
"... Any team that takes Clark in the top five is getting a potential superstar," Law wrote, "and it wouldn’t surprise me if in five years he ends up the best player."
Last year's No. 4 overall pick, Georgia high school shortstop Termarr Johnson, signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates for $7.2 million. The No. 5 pick, Florida high school outfielder Elijah Green, signed with the Washington Nationals for $6.5 million.
Clark is expected to be the first first-round pick from Indiana since Colson Montgomery of Southridge High School was picked 22nd overall by the Chicago White Sox in 2021.
