Top 25 Indiana high school boys basketball rankings (2/3/2024)

In the most topsy-turvy week of the season so far, Carmel jumps from unranked to the top 10 with consecutive wins against unbeaten teams. 

Valparaiso and Brownsburg also join the top 25.

1. Fishers (17-1)

Previous rank: 1

The Tigers suffered their first loss of the season, 54-46 to Carmel. They also rolled by Franklin Central 65-40 and beat Westfield 51-49 to win the Hoosier Crossroads Conference title outright.

2. Lawrence North (17-1)

Previous rank: 2

Like Fishers, Lawrence North was upset by Carmel, falling 42-35. They also coasted past Hammond Morton 86-48. Azavier Robinson scored 22 in the Carmel loss.

3. Westfield (14-2)

Previous rank: 5

The Shamrocks beat Avon 62-46 and Victory College Prep 78-20 before falling 51-49 to Fishers. Nic Book's 23 points led the way vs. Avon.

4. Noblesville (16-2)

Previous rank: 6

The Millers have won four in a row after edging Hamilton Southeastern 57-50 in double overtime and rolling by Guerin Catholic 71-41 and Mount Vernon (Fortville) 57-26. Aaron Fine had 41 points in the Hamilton Southeastern and Guerin Catholic victories.

5. Kokomo (17-3)

Kansas recruit Flory Bidunga and the Wildkats have won eight in a row after beating Lafayette Jefferson 65-41, Lewis Cass 72-35 and Indianapolis Cathedral 91-74. Bidunga (23 points, 17 rebounds) and Karson Rogers (23 points, 12 rebounds) both had double-doubles vs. Cathedral.

6. Cathedral (13-3)

The Fighting Irish had a pair of high-scoring games, beating Don Bosco Prep 91-73 and losing 91-74 to Kokomo. Aidan Hughes and Brady Koehler combined for 41 points against Don Bosco.

7. Center Grove (11-4)

Previous rank: 8

The Trojans beat Avon 56-53 for their fifth straight win.

8. Indianapolis Attucks (15-5)

Previous rank: 3

The Tigers beat Christel House 73-62 before dropping two straight, 55-46 to Ben Davis and 49-44 to Brownsburg.

9. Greenfield-Central (17-0)

Previous rank: 9

Braylon Mullins almost single-handedly kept the Cougars unbeaten, hitting the game-winning 3-pointer at the end of the second overtime and finishing with a program-record 51 points in a 74-72 thriller vs. Pendleton Heights. Greenfield-Central also got past Delta 45-41.

10. Carmel (9-9)

Previous rank: NR

Ignore the overall record; the Greyhounds have won five in a row. Their last two victories were against previously unbeaten teams: 54-46 vs. Fishers and 42-35 against Lawrence North. Before that, they beat another ranked team, edging Ben Davis 39-36. Alex Couto scored 26 against Fishers and 12 vs. Lawrence North, while Evan Haywood had 13 points in the latter game.

11. Ben Davis (12-4)

Previous rank: 10

The Giants were yet another victim of surging Carmel, losing 39-36. They also beat Indianapolis Attucks 55-46 and Pike 56-46. Mark Zackery had 15 points vs. Carmel and 17 against Attucks.

12. New Palestine (13-4)

Previous rank: 13

Julius Gizzi had 31 points and nine rebounds in a 66-58 win against Yorktown and scored 27 in a 71-52 victory over Perry Meridian. 

13. Indianapolis North Central (11-6)

Previous rank: 11

The Panthers beat Warren Central 54-48 and Heritage Christian 77-56 before losing 85-77 to Lawrence Central.

14. Franklin (13-3)

Previous rank: 12

The Grizzly Cubs split two games, beating Martinsville 83-50 and losing 73-68 in overtime to Southport.

15. Brebeuf Jesuit (11-4)

Previous rank: 15

Butler recruit Evan Haywood hit seven 3-pointers and scored 27 points in a 69-42 win against Indianapolis Chatard. The Braves also beat Indianapolis Lutheran 73-52.

16. Hamilton Southeastern (13-6)

Previous rank: 14

The Royals fell 57-50 to Noblesville in double overtime before beating Pendleton Heights 60-49 and Franklin Central 58-46. Donovan Hamilton and Braeden Totton combined for 35 points against Pendleton Heights.

17. Valparaiso (15-4)

Previous rank: NR

Jack Smiley had 80 points – passing 1,000 for his career – in wins over Merrillville (80-63), Munster (62-55) and LaPorte (62-61).

18. Brownstown Central (17-4)

Previous rank: 17

The Braves' winning streak is at eight games after easy victories against Charlestown (90-51), Corydon Central (84-34) and Columbus East (73-29).

19. Guerin Catholic (14-6)

Previous rank: 19

The Golden Eagles beat Lafayette Central Catholic 55-31 and lost 71-41 to Noblesville.

20. Anderson (14-4)

Previous rank: 20

The Indians defeated McCutcheon 67-33, were edged 65-62 by Lawrence Central and got past Richmond 50-45.

21. South Bend Riley (16-4)

Previous rank: 21

The Wildcats had a five-game winning streak snapped with a 66-54 loss to Penn before cruising past South Bend Washington 75-48.

22. Richmond (18-2)

Previous rank: 22

The Red Devils beat West Lafayette Harrison 50-39 and lost 50-45 to Anderson.

23. Warren Central (11-8)

Previous rank: 23

The Warriors fell 54-48 to Indianapolis North Central before beating Indianapolis Tech 64-55 and Indianapolis Washington 69-47.

24. Plainfield (12-6)

Previous rank: 16

The Quakers lost 66-55 to Decatur Central, coasted past Lebanon 71-42 and fell 46-44 to Terre Haute North. 

25. Brownsburg (11-9)

Previous rank: NR

Jordan Lomax scored 40 points on 16-for-20 shooting in an 82-57 victory against Maconaquah. He also grabbed six rebounds and had three assists. In a 56-41 loss to Zionsville, Lomax scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds. And he scored 19 in a 49-44 win vs. Attucks.
