Top stars, best performances last week in Iowa high school baseball

Here are some stars from the past week's high school baseball games across Iowa.

Joe Goodhue, Carlisle, Jr.
Goodhue was 3-for-3 at the plate with a two-run homer in a 6-4 win over Winterset. He leads the state with an .875 batting average in three games.
Cavin Henricksen, Pocahontas Area, Sr.
Henricksen had two hits and drove in three runs in a 16-0 win over South Central Calhoun. In his first two games, he is 6-for-7 with five RBIs and an .867 average.
Kayden Anderson, Glenwood, Soph.
The Rams are off to a 2-0 start with two one-sided wins. Anderson is 5-for-6 with two homers and five RBIs while hitting .833.
Dayne Zinkula, Grundy Center, Sr.
Zinkula was 4-for-4 with a pair of RBI in a 9-1 victory over GMG. Zinkula also got the win on the mound and is batting .833 with five hits in six at-bats in two games.
Cole Bracewell, Colfax-Mingo, Sr.
In two wins last week, Bracewell was 6-for-8 with seven RBI. He has a .750 average in those two games.
Ben Swalls, Clear Creek-Amana, Sr.
The Clippers have won their first five games of the season. Swalls has a .733 average, four doubles, two homers and 12 RBI.
Justice Weers, Tri-Center, Sr.
The Trojans raised their record to 3-0 with a 10-0 win over AHSTW. Weers has a .667 batting average with eight hits (11 at-bats) in three games.
Bo Schmidt, Sigourney, Sr.
His hot start at the plate (8-for-12, 6 RBIs) has helped the Savages get off to a 4-0 start. Schmidt allowed three hits and struck out 11 in a 10-1 win over Keota.
Gibson Olson, Sioux Central, Sr.
The steady catcher is 6-for-9 (.667) in four games with three RBIs.
Malachi Johnson, Ankeny Christian, Sr.
Johnson ahs 11 hits in 17 at-bats and a 2-0 pitching record for unbeaten Eagles.
Trever Baumler, Dowling, Soph.
The second-ranked Maroons have a 5-1 record, including a doubleheader sweep of Des Moines Lincoln last week. The catcher has 12 hits in 19 at-bats (.632) with five homers and 14 RBIs.
Tim Castle, Mason City Newman, Sr.
He leads the 6-0 and 16th-ranked Knights with a .632 average and 12 RBIs.
Spencer Campidilli, Johnston, Sr.
He’s leading the No. 1-ranked Dragons with .545 average, five doubles, 11 RBIs and 1.045 slugging percentage. Johnston is off to a 9-0 start.
Cale Hodges, Marion, Sr.
The second-ranked Wolves bounced back from a doubleheader loss to Clear Creek-Amana with a sweep of West Liberty. Hodges leads the team with nine hits in 18 at-bats and seven RBIs.
Noah Mack, Assumption, Sr.
The fourth-ranked Knights split a twin bill with West Des Valley and are 5-2 on the season. Mack leads the way with a .480 average and one pitching win.
Caleb Even, Cedar Rapids Xavier, Sr.
Even drove in five runs in a 17-13 victory for Xavier over Cedar Falls in the second game of a doubleheader. Even is tied for the state lead with 16 RBIs.
Brady Blake, Indianola, Jr.
Blake is batting .467 with four homers and 14 RBIs for No. 10 Indians.
Brady Steward, Grinnell, Sr.
Steward pitched a one-hitter, striking out eight to pick up his third win of the season. The No. 9 Tigers are off to a 9-0 start.
Elijah Brinkley, Mason City Newman, Sr.
Brinkley has three pitching wins and a 2.33 ERA for undefeated Knights. He has teamed with teammate Doug Taylor for five of the team’s eight pitching wins.
Carter Schorg, Remsen St. Mary’s, Sr.
He has three pitching wins and is tied for the state lead with 31 strikeouts. Schord threw no-hitter and struck out 12 in 13-1 five-inning win over Unity Christian.
Mason Hicks, Saydel, Sr.
Hicks worked the first eight innings of a 12-inning 2-1 loss to PCM, striking out 14. Hicks has 30 strikeouts in three starts this season.
Gabe Kopriva, North Tama, Sr.
Kopriva has a 3-0 record and has struck out 29 in first three starts this season. He fanned eight and allowed two hits in win over GMG.
Bryce Rudiger, Dubuque Wahlert, Jr.
Rudiger has a 3-0 record and 0.57 ERA for No. 10 Wahlert. In his latest outing, he struck out six and gave up one hit in six innings against Sergeant Bluff-Luton.
Sam Harris, Urbandale, Jr.
The J-Hawks are off to a 6-2 start and Harris has two pitching wins and 16 strikeouts. He got a win with five strikeouts against Council Bluffs Lewis Central Friday.
Ganon Archer, Van Meter, Sr.
Archer allowed one hit and struck out 15 in 6.1 innings against Roland-Story. He has two pitching wins for the reigning Class 1A state champions.
Jake Eddie, Storm Lake, Jr.
Eddie struck out 11 and gave up two hits in 7.2 innings in a 1-0 eight-inning win over Le Mars Gehlen Catholic.
