Southeast Polk softball player Jesslyn Stairs was voted SBLive Iowa High School Athlete of the Week for July 17-25. 

Stairs ran away with the contest by taking 5,872 votes (68.22%). Davenport Assumption softball player Leah Maro was second with 2,398 votes (27.76%). 

Stairs hit a two-run homer for the Rams in a 5-2 Class 5A quarterfinal win over Central Iowa Metro League rival West Des Moines Valley. Sydney Potter went 2-for-3 and Jada Long was the winning pitcher. 

The Athlete of the Week contest will take a few weeks off until the 2023-24 school years kicks off with the fall sports season in a few weeks. Be watching and don’t forget to vote.
