With the Louisiana high school football season in full swing, SBLive Sports has released its 2023 Louisiana high school football computer rankings for every classification. 

We will continue to release our computer rankings weekly for the duration of the season.

The top-ranked team in the initial Class 5A computer rankings poll is Airline, while Neville leads Class 4A. Bunkie tops the Class 3A rankings, St. Charles Catholic is No. 1 in Class 2A and of seven Class 1A teams with 4-0 records, it's Haynesville which is ranked the highest.

SBLive's formula was created using its own linear algebra-based ranking algorithm inspired by the Colley Bias-Free Ranking Method. Colley’s Method was created by Wes Colley, Ph.D., an astrophysicist at the University of Alabama at Huntsville. He devised his algorithm to help address the subjectivity and controversy regarding BCS college football selections in the 1990s and early 2000s, using a method that used no subjective variables.
